Breakfast was very good but more choices would have been nice. Egs. Cerials Room was spotless and bed was very comfortable Staff very friendly and helpful Locating property was hard. A bigger sign on main gate would be helpful

Lea Hurst is a fantastic place to stay , Quiet and secluded. The house is beautifully restored and the room was superb good views over the countryside,, Jen was a superb host and made us feel welcome in her home. Excellent breakfast and the canal path only 5 minutes walk through the garden. Good location for visiting all of the Peak District. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to return

This was a fabulous experience to stay at Florence Nightingale’s summer home. A most beautiful and historic house in its own grounds ( Nightingale Park) and a delightful family home. We were made most welcome and enjoyed our stay very much.

This is definitely a highlight of our mini break. Sitting in lady Nightingale's library for breakfast with a great view of the hill is perfect way of relaxing. Plus learning so much of the history from the host. This is my first time of recommend a accommodation.

Wonderful property at the foot of the Peak District, which has been renovated to a very high standard with original features in abundance. Our host Peter went out of his way to make us feel welcome and shared a lot of interesting stories about this home, which once belonged to the Florence Nightingale family. Beautiful surroundings and a very nice English breakfast in the dining room by the fire. Looking forwards to coming back!

I was very disappointed. What a lovely location to stay. There are beautiful surroundings, stunning gardens, and views no matter where you look. Peter is genuinely knowledgeable about Florence Nightingales past life and is passionate about teaching others how she lived. Peter and Jen have a great deal of respect for Florence, and their home is well worth a visit. Nothing is too much trouble, they go out of their way to meet your needs, and you will feel really welcome. We had a hotel booked in the lake district, but with less than a week to go until our vacation, they had to cancel for different reasons. We were evidently overjoyed, but after walking into Peter and Jens place, we are so happy that our original vacation was canceled we could have had a more restful and mentally refreshing stay. Peter and Jen have filled Florence Nightingales previous home with a bustling family, respectfully tasteful furnishings, and a passion to share all of this with visitors. If you have the chance, reserve your stay soon.

This place is quite romantic and feels like you're staying with friends. Peter and Jen make you feel very welcome and their passion for their home and its history is great. Breakfast is substantial and of high quality. Beautiful local walks if you can't bear to get away from the lovely house and gardens.

We stayed at the honeymoon suite for 3 nights which was beautiful. The decoration in the house was luxurious and very in line with the grandest of the property. Peter and Jen were great hosts, serving a delicious breakfast every morning and refreshments on returning from a day out. Nothing was too much trouble and felt very welcome in what is their family home. Peter has a great knowledge of all things nightingale and there were lots of books available if you wanted to. We ate at two local restaurants recommended by Peter which were both very good. Wineprosecco was available to order, which was a nice touch because we didn't drink when driving to a restaurantpub.

I would strongly recommend staying here for a special occasion or a few days. We were made to feel very welcome, with warm hospitality, the hard work and dedication that the current owners Peter and Jen have obviously done over the past few years have made this a lovely relaxing, interesting, and beautiful place to stay. The gardens and surrounding views are great. The rooms and breakfast were all very high quality, in fact everything was just perfect and we could not have asked for a more enjoyable break.

What a treasure. I stayed here for two nights over the weekend and only wish I could have reserved a few more nights in the future. The accommodations were spotless, the rooms were spotless, and the beds were incredibly cozy. Fresh eggs from the estate, a first-rate breakfast. As a bonus, each of the four rooms was provided with its own private room so guests could enjoy their meal. The proprietors, Peter and Jen, are incredibly accommodating and informed about the home's past and the local attractions that are interesting to visit and eat in the evenings. When we visit the soon-to-be-coming peak district, I will without a doubt suggest and undoubtedly stay here again.
