It turned out to be a great choice for a one-night stay at the lakeside Herdwick. Clean and comfortable with safe parking at the back of the property. Dinner at the inn was excellent.

We were staying in a holiday cottage in Penruddock and walked across the fields to the herdwick a few times, so it became our local for the week. We merely sat outside for a drink and had a shared platter of breaded cheese, sweet corn, chips etc. one afternoon as a snack. All very nice. Sprucing up the outdoor seating area would really help, but other than that, everything was fine.

The menu for lunch is not full but there is an option for lunch and all are good. I will meet the owner and the local staff, they seem to care about this business and what a value that is.

The food was delicious with gluten-free options, the service was friendly, and there was a relaxed atmosphere, and the price was worth it. The best homemade chips, and the gluten-free crumble, it was the best all around place.

The dining area was once more chilly. Perhaps it's time to turn on the fire! The meals were lovely and well-prepared. Jess served breakfast, which was delicious and accompanied by a knowledgeable and welcoming staff. Excellent location to stop off on the way up or down the my, or after a day in Creswick or Perish. The parking area is located at the back. A pair of double and king rooms are now fully booked. It has a charming, country feel, and great decor. But the radiators didn't turn on until after supper, but they warmed up quickly. It's lovely to have a bottle of water in the room, comfy beds, and crisp, new bedding. Even though the place was subpar in the evening and supper was busy, the personnel did a wonderful job, and the food was quickly and hot. The dining area was once more chilly. Perhaps it's time to put out the blaze! The meals were lovely and well-prepared. Jess served breakfast, which was excellent and accommodating, a wide selection, and hot food delivered promptly. A great stopover on the way up or down the my or after a day in creswick or perish.
