We had an excellent 3 night stay at this traditional country hotel. Great welcome, good service, and a heated pool. Lovely.

Lovely hotel in its own grounds, with chickens, and other animals in the grounds. Just south of Bury St Edmunds close to the A14 exit, but the traffic noise was not noticeable.

Absolutely stunning the whole time we was there the service was brilliant, the food was beautiful by far the best meal we’ve ever had & the rooms where lovely and qwerky.. The hotel is full of Victorian history and because it was mine and my wife’s anniversary was perfect for what we needed..... will be returning

I have stayed at Ravenwood a couple of times now. Both rooms I have stayed in have been beautifully decorated, and definitely complement the history of the place without being twee . The food is absolutely exquisite- I ve not been disappointed and the atmosphere of the dining rooms is welcoming and cosy. Just a note for those of you who have early starts, Reception is not manned between certain times - I found out that it's not until 8 am on the weekends when I needed to check out at 7am. It is a beautiful venue and on the whole , staff are as welcoming as the environment is. I hope to plan several more visits in the near future .

I was in the out house area, the room above was occupied and there was lots of creaking and bed bumping

Ravenwood Hall is aesthetically a beautiful and attractive venue . The instant tranquility hits you as you travel up the curving drive and the age of the building and its history make it a cosy and nostalgic setting. The staff are welcoming and friendly and tolerated some very pretentious guests with big smiles and the patience of saints. My room was very pretty, if in need of a little TLC ( slight peeling of wallpaper in a few corners) and it was charming and with equally pretty tea and coffee making facilities and a generous bathroom. The bed was a raised 4 poster bed so although I am fair from the princessy type I relished the luxury of having to climb into it and I had a wonderful night's sleep. Parts of the grounds are in need of some more flourishes of roses but that's me being ridiculously picky. Dinner was genuinely exquisite and I tried very hard to resist the urge to scrape the last bits of sauce off my dishes. The Dining room was another unique and atmospheric experience in itself - truly lovely . Would happily return several times in the future without any doubt .

Lovely property surrounded by amazing grounds. The outdoor pool was a nice touch especially on the hottest day of the year ;-)

We were in an annexe room which was musty and up a wobbly external spiral staircase. The towels smelled of cooking. The electrics were dodgy and definitely not up to code. The plumbing from the other rooms in ‘The Mews’ was noisy.

Great location for weddings at Blackthorpe Barn Food is good, staff were friendly... ...but room was musty, mouldy & dirty. The room smelled musty & damp. Throw on the bottom of bed was stained. The curtains were mouldy on the linings. The shower curtain was black with mould. There were huge cobwebs in the bathroom. This hotel was shabby but definitely not chic!

We stayed at Ravenwood Hall Hotel as we were attending a wedding. The building and grounds are lovely, but unfortunately the room was very disappointing. Cleanliness was poor, with stained carpets. Poor lighting, awful shower. There was also a very damp smell. And the soundproof from other rooms was non existent. On the positive side. Breakfast was good and our evening meal was acceptable.

While the staff are very nice, this hotel is very tired. The room carpets and shower curtains are dirty and a redecoration is required. The breakfast was very poor. The bacon was limp as if threatened by a match, the American pancakes (arriving in the singular) were presented as a huge frisbee of tough batter, the coffee was weak, dirty water closer to tea. I would say it is overpriced. I have experienced much better quality for this price elsewhere.

Room comfortable but curtains although look nice when open did not close to keep light out unless you held them in place with something, in our case an arm chair for one and the dressing table mirror for the other. At diner we were served mouldy focaccia bread with the soup, it was changed for some very fresh bread but things like that should not happen and it was a shame as the rest of the meal was very tasty . In the morning we had ordered a paper, which is not included in the £120 a night price ! was not delivered as they forgot to order it. I got the impression that even though it is on the check in form it is not a proper service as on the next morning the reception girl had to buy it on her way to work. When i worked in a hotel we rang the order to a newsagent and they delivered. The breakfast on the Saturday morning was much better, Ryan was excellent but on the previous morning as i didn't order porridge or a different starter nothing was offered for me to have while i waited for my cooked breakfast, i sat there for 45 minutes with just coffee, the staff were very scarcely in the area where we were so unable to catch someone's attention, very, very bad service. It could be a lovely hotel as in beautiful grounds but it just lacks leadership and direction. Would not recommend and would not stay there again.
