First arrived and didn’t k ow where it was (the sign name is a best western) not metropolitan! We deaf and disabled so lady argue with me not allowed to park but we parked in with disabled badge, told her bit she refused so we saw a car in disabled bay with no badge? So she kindly let us park. Went in room and maintenance been done around the room so we had to go back to reception and change room, the manager came and was kind enough to let us have the business class free of charge in way of apology. Nice manager. So parking not good but rooms and manager excellent. Had pizza and beer there bar man lovely make us pizza it was nice.

I was honestly a bit nervous about staying here, mainly because I'm a solo female traveller so staying anywhere unfamiliar is a little nerve wracking but also because of a few bad reviews. I stayed overnight as I was going on a long hike and needed somewhere to stay so I wasn't travelling back too late. The hotel held my luggage before check in then promptly handed it back when I was ready to check in, and they even held it again after check out so I could explore the city luggage free before my coach home. I was pleasantly surprised that I was on the top floor, as I am a big fan of the views and of quietness. They also had a couple of extras in the mini fridge for me for free and said it was an upgrade, maybe because I'm a new customer, but either way, it was a nice surprise. The shower didn't work, or at least, I couldn't figure it out, but the bath taps ran so I had a bath instead which was fine, the hot water ran which is all I needed after a long hike. For a three star hotel, I was pleased with everything and it was all clean. I didn't sleep the best as I was so nervous being on my own which is a shame because the beds were so comfy and the room was so big. As I plan to come to Sheffield again, I'd definitely rebook Great Western Hotel, in the hopes every room was like this one, and knowing there is nothing to worry about, so I'll sleep soundly. Thankyou!

It is a good hotel, but as an older property the summer months can be very hot in the rooms, the upgraded rooms are good as they do have a fridge in which is a real benefit.

Stayed for one night, met expectations. The room was adequate for my needs, looking dated with the dark painted doors. Missing some up to date amenities such as usb direct charging plugs or even a plug at the side of the bed. Stayed in Room 303, toilet handle was very loose, but worked (thank goodness!). Sloppy repaint job made it look unprofessionally finished. Reception staff were all a credit to the company, welcoming and knowledgeable. Confusing as to who actually owns the hotel as all signage outside shows Best Western but appears to be Sheffield Metropolitan Hotel by Belvilla, which isn't helpful when having to find the place. Lovely overnight stay, it just needs more TLC.
