I would happily return there. And I want to thank all the employees for making my fathers birthday weekend such a success. To remember my dad's 90 th birthday, we stayed the weekend. The house is breathtaking. Amazing furnishings from the 1800 s can be found on the ground floor. Wonderful plasterwork, wood carded panels, and extremely high ceilings. I have never seen the largest fire place in a building in the bar! Around the hotel are lots of lovely grounds. The personnel was extremely responsive, cordial, and supportive. The breakfast was satisfactory. Nevertheless, they do not appear to answer the telephone frequently. Before anyone could answer the bar's pizza 12, which was most certainly out of the freezer, took up to six attempts. The furnishings for the corridors and rooms are quite somewhat lacking.4.4/52 Sep 2023

I was eager to stay in such a gorgeous structure, but it all came about as soon as I turned into the main gates. The driveway is strewn with huge, unavoidable potholes, which does not provide a great first impression. The main house is striking, with its appearance promoting luxury and opulence, but once I enter the entrance hall, these impressions quickly fade. The reception is unfriendly, messy, and unstaffed. Someone finally came, checked me in, and gave me directions to my room, which was on many flights of stairs in the attic. Having reached alone with the rest of the party to carry on with bags, boxes, and birthday cakes, I struggled up and learned that the restaurant was closed that evening due to a wedding. It would have been lovely to have been told this. On checking in, I was also informed that the restaurant was closed that evening due to a wedding. Luckily, we planned to eat elsewhere, but any guests wishing to spend the evening at the property would be extremely inconvenienced. My plan was to enjoy the peaceful surroundings until our wedding in the evening. I set out to enjoy the sun in the lovely gardens. The cafeteria was very large but sparse, with 2 plastic cups wrapped in cardboard and one very tiny shower gel the only toiletries. The hot meal was awful, and one side was completely open.4.2/516 Nov 2023

The hotel exceeded expectations. Despite the fact that the hotel is from 1843, we were pleasantly pleased by how clean the entire property was. No cobwebs, even on the high ceilings, excellent carpeting throughout, and none of the signs of neglect that you often see in hotels of this age. Wood paneling in public areas and fantastic stone work inside and out. We had a large twin room with two double beds and a good-sized bathroom and shower. Some annoyances due to age such as low water pressure in the shower still adequate, round pin sockets and more recent square pin sockets. Windows were difficult to open or didn't open. The ground is large and well-kept and you can explore them if you want. The reason we left a star on the rating was simply because of breakfast. This is a buffet type and without the choice that you would expect from a four-star hotel. The sausage and bacon were nicely cooked and of high quality but no fried or poached eggs, just scrambled and not so good. Continental selection very poor. Because of breakfast, I'm not sure if I'll be back, which is a shame because it's a fantastic location.4.2/530 Oct 2023

I would undoubtedly suggest this hotel to my friends and family. My husband and I decided to spend the night away and decided to stay here. It appeared lovely as soon as we got there: the grounds, the surroundings, and the motel itself are both stunning! We checked in and were given room directions, and we adored the hotel's interior. We discovered our room on the top floor, and as soon as we entered, we were astonished by the large room with a step up to the window with a nice view, the bed was a large double bed, and the bathroom was also very nice. The grounds were gorgeous, and I'm sure they are gorgeous in the summer! We had our evening meal, which was excellent and not at all pricey! Also, the room was in a nice, quiet part of the hotel. We checked out early in the morning, and the staff there is so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.4.2/513 Feb 2022

I visited here for business and saw the images online and thought the cost seemed reasonable given the impressive pictures and practical because it is right off the a so I took the chance. The entrance to the hotel is through exquisitely well-kept grounds with wildlife all around the long load through the estate, then you turn into the main hall, which is a stunning imposing stately home, but when you step inside and that's where the impression changes, unfortunately it's tattered and gloomy and the courtyard room I stayed in was awful, cold, and feisty. Such a shame because, with some investment and high-end internal renovations, it could be an absolutely amazing hotel and wedding venue because the outside areas and terraced gardens are amazing, the original internal features, and fireplaces are palatial, it's a shame it's been neglected.Popular Facilities
