Old building with creeks and squeaks, but so am I! Spotless freshly decorated rooms and public areas. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Excellent kitchen! Felt very safe.

Great stay! Really friendly Staff. Restaurant very classy and excellent food with a good variety. I was leaving very early the next morning, a lovely wee bag of treats was waiting at reception.

The hotel was very comfortable and had a lovely homely atmosphere. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. We chose to have our meals in the bar and could not fault the food. The staff also coped well with the COVID restrictions. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Hotel had slightly dated, tired feel. Although bedding etc was clean, the whole bedroom was dusty. Tea/coffee tray had crumbs in it. Dinner and breakfast was very good and good quality ingredients. Staff were friendly and adequate but could be more efficient. Overall a good stay for money paid.

All the staff were lovely. The food was good and the bar was fun. The room was comfortable and quiet although it’s a bit of a maze to get there. Plenty of hot water. Rather creaky bed but okay.

Staff were helpful and very polite and friendly. The hotel is basic with a straightforward menu but perfect for a stop over on the way to the ferry. Good breakfast, served promptly at our pre-ordered time. Found Newton Stewart a little down at heel, but we didn’t walk very far past the supermarket.

Comfy bed and friendly staff made my stay absolutely fine. Down sides though are; no bedside lamps in my room, don’t know if they’re all the same; hot water takes ages (up to 10 minutes) to come through although in fairness there’s a sign saying so and that most of the bedrooms are accessed through the function suite which o would suggest would be a major issue if there was a function on.

Arrived to find a cattle market directly opposite hotel on other side of road. Waited at reception to check in but no one came, went to bar. Lovely lady took us to our room. Sadly on the way up we saw the pub was full of farmers every where and a smell of manure where it had come off their boots in hotel hall and leading up stairs. Once in room could smell it though. Room was nice, however the bed mattress was so thin could feel the base when you sat on it, uncomfortable night. Went for food, we were put in the conservatory where it was just us. Got a jug of water ordered food. We got food which was really nice, when our plates were taken away we asked for bill, waited 15 mins still no bill, daughter went to bar and asked again waited another 15mins then we went to bar to pay, for everything going on there certainly was not enough staff. Right up until 9:30pm all that was heard in our room was the sound of cattle mooing and very loud hooves against metal as they were loaded on to Lorrie’s, Sadly this started again at 06:00am. I think this is something that on booking we should have been told about, Such a lovey little place which was made into an awful stay. I have been with hotels.com for so many years I have been left feeling I don’t want to use them again.
