It's my last time there, but I will definitely come back. The pub was so packed that I thought there was a party. The atmosphere was very nice and lively. The menu has a lot of classic choices. We had the steak and ale pie, which was the best pie I've ever had in West Dorset. Large with a great filling and excellent pastry. It was served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I didn't have sticky toffee pudding, which annoyed me all the way home because I expected it to be good because I tried to be good.

What a gem! A fine old country pub with decent food to boot, a very friendly and helpful landlord, and an old country character in Ed the bartender. We had so much fun with the locals, the pub was nicely filled with lots of locally relevant memorabilia. The food wasn't gastro but sturdy and fresh, a regular menu with large special menu, twice baked goat cheese souffle with chips and salad and fresh fish and chips went well. We 4 also stayed the night, the rooms are simple and would use a bit of spruce, but they were very good value. And while we only booked the room, the publicist, as soon as we realized we would be up and running on our horses on our three-day tour of Wessex Ridgeway, graciously planned a special trip for us to get breakfast supplies. Usually, a cafe around the corner opens at a.m. We had a great time and fuelled up for our long journey!Thank you, Scott and Ed!.

Excellent food and excellent service. Dog-friendly inside and out. Burgers are excellent, as is hunting chicken. A fantastic find and highly recommended. The pub dog dennis is quite cute, the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, a real find that we would encourage everyone to check out.

I had the pleasure of staying in this lovely traditional dorset pub in a beautiful village. The landlord and staff are very welcoming and friendly. A true village pub in the middle of the village. The locals were very friendly and even with social distancing very interesting conversations and stories. Good local food, interesting starters and mains and really lovely desserts.

We cycled to the inn with my wife and were looking for a lunch spot. When we arrived, the landlord made us feel welcome. There was a decent selection of alcohol to choose from. We sat in the garden. I chose the steak, which was cooked exactly as I liked it. My wife enjoyed the steak and gin pie, which was a pie not just a top. Both were fantastic. Because we found it so pleasant, we cycled there the following week before we returned home from our vacation.
