My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kenmuir Arms hotel. Located in a wee picturesque village we found the staff friendly and accommodating. Room one was very clean with a very comfortable king-sized bed and the shower had great water pressure. Highly recommend the creative food prepared by international Chef-Patron Christopher Dougan (recently awarded in February 2025 Scotland's Dining Discovery of the Year and 5 AA Gold Stars and 2 AA Rosettes). Every meal was creatively prepared with local ingredients and fine dining flair, yet not overly pretentious. Chef was very accommodating for my request for gluten-free tasting menu at dinner. Every dish was delicious and it was a delight to not know what dish was coming next. The full Scottish breakfast with homemade sausage, black pudding, and haggis was a great way to start each day. The pub had selections of local beer and spirits. We were visiting the area to see Sam Heughan’s Galloway Distillery. It was a treat every afternoon to have drinks made with Harbor Hills Gin and Sassanach Vodka on the patio near a babbling brook and a stone bridge.

Excellent in every respect. Superbly friendly with a responsive and caring host. Room first class with comfortable beds & ample towels. Lovely setting. High class food. Only minor issue is breakfast is only served after 08.30 - not ideal if you want an early start.

A short overnight stay on our way to Cairnryan ferry. We arrived quite late but the kitchen was still available for dinner and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was impeccable. We had to leave early for our crossing but the short stay was great. We want to come back.

Such a lovely hotel- with excellent authentic friendliness that is so often lost in big hotels. The room was immaculate and impeccably clean- would have no hesitation recommending. The food was also excellent as well as the wine!

Beautiful location and lovely room in hotel. Very friendly staff. Very modern and clean. Lovely little bar but draught beer a bit stale. Dinner starter extremely small but tasty and main courses -one was excellent and the other poor. No one checked on how we liked the food and we had to mention to server as they just took the plates away. Server said she would let the chef know. Chef came out to speak to us but was very aggressive and defensive about the food. Discussion didnt go well and it spoilt our stay as breakfast was a bit awkward the next day. Breakfast delicious but tiny portion and advertised as a full scottish breakfast. We sent a review back direct to the hotel as they requested and heard nothing back as yet.
