It’s a great little hotel, having stayed before late last year, this is the first time back this year, perfect for a quick get away, travelled down from Manchester to visit friends. Hotel is perfectly well situated and has great transport links to go around the local area and further afield like Brighton or Portsmouth. Hotel room didn’t disappoint, was clean and comfortable. Staff were really accommodating and friendly. Great place to stay!

Loved our stay. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Top service. Great entertainment of an evening. Loved the Saturday 80s night. Although rooms could do with an update they were good size, clean and comfortable. The manager and Dj really made us welcome and we would definitely return.

We were welcomed by friendly staff. Room was clean and tidy with a separate bathroom. There was tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits. We had a good meal in the Tiffany style bar downstairs where there was a lovely atmosphere. It is convenient for those who like to travel by train as the station was right opposite.

This is a lovely old building that has seen better times. But the people who run it today are polite and friendly and work hard to maintain the standards which would have applied a long time ago. I certainly got a warm welcome on arrival. It was disappointing to learn that currently they can't provide guests with breakfast but the reason was explained to me. The room I was allocated was clean and beautifully furnished. I only stayed one night but it was a very pleasant experience.

The Grand Victorian is going through a lot of renovation - new owner. It is a nice hotel, but has a few glitches that hopefully will be taken care of with the reno = the water pressure was pretty low in our room (#14) for showering and the heater stayed on HIGH the entire time. We couldn't change it and even after having someone come up from staff, they couldn't either. It was soooo hot trying to sleep. Speaking of the staff, they were great! Very helpful and pointed us in the right direction for good breakfasts out. The beds were wonderful and we slept excellent every night (other than no covers b/d of the heat). Right across from the train station, but never heard any noise. Safe neighborhood. I would suggest to the hotel to widen the entrance to the small car park (5 cars capacity) because of the trash bins and pot holes. However, we would stay here again.

The hotel is ideally situated right cross from the station and a short walk into the town centre. The rooms were well maintained and spacious and there was ample storage, a suitcase rack would have been nice. Good atmosphere in the bar but it tended to be noisy. Would stay there again
