This has been on our bucket list for years so we finally got here for our 41st anniversary and we weren't disappointed. Our meals were lovely, well presented and very tasty. Our room was lovely, clean and tidy. Staff were excellent, very welcoming and friendly. I also have to mention the Balfour lager, it has a distinctive taste and is way better than all the usual eurofizz generally available. I'd recommend the Trout as a place to stay to explore the local area.

Step inside and you’re met not by staff, but by hosts, bright-eyed and brilliantly friendly, the kind of people who make you feel as though you’ve lived here your whole life. There’s a soft murmur of conversation, a clink of glasses, and that unmistakable sense of community, so rare these days, yet alive and well within these walls. And then the food arrives. Not “pub grub,” not even close - this is craft, incredibly good dishes that carry a quiet confidence,as if they know they’ll exceed every expectation long before you lift a fork.
