I found the hotel welcoming stunningly beautiful. I had breakfast in my room and it was 10 out of 10 absolutely excellent I travel alone. I am female and I have a hotel like this is incredibly important to me. It was excellent.

Wivenhoe House is the only hotel we stay every time at Colchester. we love the hotel environment with pretty of green area around, super nice staffs, great restaurants always serving good quality meals that make me want to go back every time

We had a wonderful two night stay and would highly recommend it. Staff in all areas were exceptional and service provided was the best we've had at any hotel. Clean comfortable room, great breakfasts and the Park Brasserie provided an excellent dining experience.

We stayed here on our Ruby Wedding Anniversary as we had our wedding reception here and this was the first time we had gone back in 40 years! Staff very attentive and had sprinkled red hearts on the bed and on our dining table with little lights.The food was delicious, lovely evening meal and very good breakfast in the morning. Over all a lovely nostalgic stay for us and we will definitely return.

Excellent welcome, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, the toaster is amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Super convenient, as I was on a course at the university that weekend.

Lovely hotel on the edge of campus. Lots of atmosphere, impeccably clean rooms, and very friendly staff. After a busy week in London, the beautiful surrounds, fresh air and peace of Wivenhoe House were just perfection. We had two rooms for our party of three, both in the modern part of the hotel and both excellent. We especially enjoyed the room with a balcony overlooking the grounds. The restaurant was excellent, enjoyed dinner there as well as breakfast each morning - all just great. We didn't have a vehicle during our stay but found it easy and reasonable to get an Uber into town and to and from the train station.

From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. Every member of staff went out of their way to make me feel looked after, without ever being intrusive. Dinner in the restaurant was a real highlight. The menu was beautifully curated, showcasing seasonal ingredients and creative flair. Each course was expertly presented and full of flavour—clearly the work of a talented kitchen. The ambience in the dining room added to the experience, striking just the right balance between relaxed and refined. Breakfast the following morning was equally impressive. There was a generous selection to choose from, with both continental options and perfectly cooked hot dishes. Everything was fresh, high quality, and served with the same attentive care we experienced the night before. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean, with lovely views of the surrounding grounds—making it very easy to unwind and enjoy the peaceful setting.

Very warm welcomenwhen we checked into the hotel,our room was spacious and very clean we had a balcony room so we had a lovely room.Breakfast this morning was lovely as well so we both enjoyed our stay last night to celebrate my husbands sixty bithday.
