Beautiful hidden gem, close to Big Sur, Carmel & Monterey for a little less money. We loved the cleanliness, amenities and spacious room. The walls are pretty thin as it’s an older building but other than that we were happy with the deal.

Our room overlooking the river was as good as expected, the shared deck was nice. The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, communal fridge, ice packed ready to go, and all the cutlery and crockery you need. We got dinner in the Thai place up the road (splendid)and had leftovers the next day, everything we needed for our take away dinner was there. Breakfast bar is a bit scant, but we weren't there for the food. Lovely little place, would certainly go again if I could afford it, this was a special occasion and it was perfect.. Beautifully located to explore Elkhorn Slough and whale watch out of Moss Landing and a beautiful beach is a short walk away.

Captain's Inn at Moss Landing: What a Delightful find on Orbitz, the "last room" they claimed, the Sanctuary, out front with view of the river/ slough, with the ocean and its sounds just beyond the berm, perfect for we bird lovers. But in all honesty, any of their rooms are probably "the best", I'm sure! Every detail was thoughtful, SO comfortable: the high King bed with luxurious bedding, gas fireplace, larger multi-headed shower, nice bathrobes, even TWO suitcase racks... and the wall-of-windows view. The kitchen dining area in the main house was better than expected, with some bonus amenities. We enjoyed this Inn and tiny quiet Moss Landing very much. HOW to enter this property! My main frustration, again, is with Orbitz, as after reading the Congratulations! for making our reservation, we did not see their additional 3-4 emails about HOW to enter this property. Upon arrival, we had to call the number found on a sign, which hooray! was answered by a live person. Frustrating that we had to give all our same info to him, which Orbitz already has! We don't have to do that in any hotel! The gentleman was very patient, and finally we had the Codes to the Public areas and to our room. And my, what a room! Worth it!

This hotel is a short drive to Monterey or even Santa cruz. It's not your average hotel where you wonder if the people are on vacation or if they're actually living there. It's right on the water which is near the Elkhorn Slough. You might see otters in the water and there are a variety of birds right outside of your window. The room was super cute. You have access to the shared kitchen and dining room in the house on the property. I will definitely be staying there again.

Great place - very quaint - pictures are very accurate. Great location - very central to Salinas and Monterey. Great staff - very attentive. Responses for requests were immediate. The owners want to make your stay enjoyable.
