Had a great stay with family in a dual queen room. Nice clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and polite. Native Son restaurant/cafe/bar was delicious for breakfast. I would stay again.

I chose El Capitan because my dog was free. Everything went smoothly. The room was great, no one said anything about my dog (except "Can I pet him?"), in and out was a breeze, and I found parking across the street. Good location too. However, I don't know why they had to put me down two hallways on Floor 4. During my stay, the elevator never opened on either Floor 2 or 3, indicating an absence of inhabitants on those floors. Also, I only saw two other customers on Floor 4. I could not quite close the blackout curtains after a number of tries, so they let in some light in the early morning.

This is my go to hotel in Merced. Classic property that’s been lovingly renovated. The restaurants are great at the hotel and a multitude of restaurants and bars within just a few blocks walk. Staff is excellent with super fast check-in. Rooms are beautiful. Even the least expensive room has its advantages with a classic restored look and not facing Main Street. I pointed out because Main Street at night can be very loud on weekends, especially. The hotel provides earplugs, which is certainly indication. They are aware of the noise. I should mention the noise is from the people out at the bar and driving up and down Main Street. Some revving of engines and motorcycles. That’s kind of a classic downtown California thing but if you’re not used to it, you should ask for a room towards the back of the hotel, which are much quieter. Overall, I love this place.

I only ate in their Cafe, which is called native Sun. They had a limited selection of breakfast items, and a broad selection of pastries and muffins.

I love amenities, my skin is smooth, hair is shiny, clean room, good interior, very comfortable bed & nice work/study station on the ground floor. It was relaxed and enjoyable to stay.
