The B&B dated back to the 1700’s but had modern day amenities. The inn and grounds were breathtaking. The staff and breakfast was wonderful. I can’t wait to go back, this is one of my favorite bookings ever.

Hostess was warm and welcoming. House is beautifully appointed. The quantity and quality of the antiques is impressive and fascinating. I've stayed in many dozens of architecturally significant B&B's and this is the finest. Breakfast was delicious. Advice: bring a book light if you like to read in bed.

Absolutely beautiful property and the most gracious host. She made us a custom breakfast and easily accommodated us when we showed up hours earlier than our planned check in time. She’s a delight to visit with. You feel like family. This will definitely be our place to stay when we are in the area!

Heavitree was an amazing find. Charlotte was a most gracious host, allowing us to check in early and giving us a personal tour of of this reconstruction of an historic tavern home. It was almost like staying in a museum but still warm and very very comfortable. I book old B&B's cautiously not wanting to stay in a musty old building which this one certainly is not! Because it was relocated and reconstructed it has a modern foundation and heating and cooling systems. As an Architect these are things that I always notice The property exudes beautiful and scenic old New England and the gourmet breakfast is excellent. I would recommend Heavitree to anyone.

An excellent stay, this unique Heavitree of Griswold B&B was featured in the December 2008 issue of Early American Life magazine. An original 18th century structure set on a 140+ acre Christmas tree farm, that once served as a tavern, home, and now a B&B. Walk through the door and you are teleported back in time, as the rooms, parlor, dining room, keeping room, great room, etc., are all from the 18th century period. Outside the B&B, the grounds include vast fields, gardens, beautiful views, and a comfortable outdoor patio. Each morning, the full breakfast was enormous and delicious. The owner, whose family has lived on this property since the 1600’s was amazing and so very nice to talk to. The property manager was also incredible and very knowledgeable of the area. If you love Old Sturbridge Village, CT, and wonder what it would be like to stay in an 18th century home of that period, then this is the B&B for you!
