Great staff. The breakfast was really good and included with our stay. Place was very quiet. We will stay there again.

We have been staying in SoHa for over 20 years and Hotel Nichols was our first place and now again a recent stay. We went back for the charm and central location. The newer owners have improved the property with new furnishings and the outdoor courtyard. They also provide an extensive made-to-order breakfast every morning. The innkeeper and staff were welcoming and service oriented. A great experience!!

The rooms are always clean and cozy. The staff is top notch and treats all guests like family. Happy hour in the lobby is an amazing way to meet the other guests. We gave stayed twice in room 17 and once in room 10 and look forward to our next stay.

Our stay couldn’t have been better. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The front lobby was like relaxing in your living room and the freshly cooked breakfast which was chosen off a large menu the night before came out piping hot and delicious at the time you requested. It’s like staying in a good friend’s home. The location is right downtown with many shops, restaurants, the beach and lighthouse all within an easy walk. Can’t wait to come back

This is my second time staying at Hotel Nichols in South Haven. All n all, if you're looking for a nice, reasonably priced place to stay and location is important so you can walk around the town and not have to drive, Hotel Nichols is the place to stay! South Haven as a whole is the perfect mini getaway from Chicago, and Hotel Nichols' location is absolutely perfect so you can walk around to shops, restaurants, the beach etc. It was a last minute mom and daughter trip. The walkability is one of the best features of staying at this hotel vs an Airbnb, and though this trip was during offseason, and several places are temporarily closed, there is still enough to do and enjoy in an even more relaxed time. Nick who works at Hotel Nichols is always very welcoming and friendly, and we appreciate that breakfast is included. The hotel is charming and even offers an array of board games for guests if you have earlier nights in (which we did). Nearby vineyard: If you're coming from (or returning to) the Chicagoland area and you enjoy wine, we also tried Filkins vineyard on our way up - only 25 min from the hotel, great wines, a beautiful vineyard and friendly staff.

It was our first time in South Haven, and we couldn’t have felt more welcome here! The staff was so friendly and helpful during check-in, and the complimentary breakfast didn’t hurt either! The boutique-style rooms are cozy, with antique charm, making it feel more like you’re staying at a relative’s than a corporate chain. All-in-all, we had a lovely stay at Historic Hotel Nichols, and will most definitely be back!

Best stay in South Haven. Comfortable beds, cozy rooms, friendly staff, happy hour where you meet the fellow guests and a delicious breakfast. Todd is a property favorite. We look forward to our next stay at Hotel Nichols.

The room was clean and very cozy. It’s small but I loved it. Nick is the manager and I only met him but he was super nice and accommodating. He also makes an exquisite breakfast made to order every morning! There is also an evening reception every night with wine, beer and charcuterie. The location can’t be beat as well!!

Historic Hotel Nichols was a great experience for our small family. Nick (manager) was fantastic. If you are staying in town, you won't regret staying here. Location is excellent, walkable to all shops/restaurants.

Love the location, hospitality and uniqueness of this historic hotel located downtown and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. A welcome haven (in South Haven) from status quo highway hotels.

We really enjoyed this historic older building built in 1884 near the black river and close to Lake Michigan. Our room was small but comfortable; quiet at night and in the morning. We had a nice view of the water. Breakfast was phenomenal with many choices like a home-cooked meal. The only hitch was the first night where we didn’t know how to control the room’s radiator heat and it got too warm. The staff was very friendly and helpful offering suggestions on things to do in the area. We were able to do some fun trail walks seeing the beautiful fall colors and many nice little shops in town. We definitely would do it again.
