What a fantastic hotel! Fantastic location near fishermans wharf sf, all the staff are lovely and pleasant, coffee or tea is available in the morning for free, there are free drinks like glass wine, api or fruit juice between 5 pm and 6 pm, and cold ice water available all day in reception. Our room was very clean, spacious and spacious, the bed was very comfortable and serviced daily. There is a small gift shop selling soft drinks and sweets. The lovely atmosphere around the hotel would recommend this hotel to you all.4.8/59 Sep 2024

As far as visiting san francisco, the location is the best! With the bay area being home to many great entertainment venues, this hotel is a great place to stay. But even more than that, it aligns perfectly with kimpton standards and offers amazing unique amenities. Two of my favorite amenities here were the daily happy hour and the vinyl records checkout at the desk. Although i felt one of the djs had some unusual music genres selected for happy hour, it is always a great way to start the evening and meet new friends. Cleanliness and customer service are clearly a priority, it is nice to stay in a clean and odorfree environment. The fillipino restaurant within the hotel seemed a bit specific, but there are many others within walking distance. The snack bar also offered some great options for drinks and snacks. With the valet costs in san francisco being so high, using uber was a much better option. Cheers!.4.8/514 Mar 2024

Next time, we will make the decision to stay here. The hotel is in a fantastic position. Just a short distance from fishingmans wharf, the neighborhood is secure. The room is tidy and spotless. We set up connecting rooms for us while staying as a family. Very thorough.4.8/54 Mar 2024

I dont know what kind of architect would build a bathroom without a shower door. If you dont put a towel at the entrance to the shower, you can slip and fall, potentially killing yourself. Dont even get me started on the toilet, ji. Its like a big hole with only good comments on top. I think they have people on the floor. Plus, you can stream from your phone or laptop to the tv. The bed and pillow are very comfortable. Dog friendly, no hidden fees. The location is very good. Overrated, they will hide this review with good comments. Looking at the reviews of this place, i noticed that good comments are on top. Dont stay here unless you have a dog.4.8/53 Jan 2024

The hotel is nice. The rooms are neat and a good size for the size of the room we had at least. The shower had good pressure, which was a bit annoying because the screen was a bit short and water did go out onto the floor. I dont really like tap types. But thats just a personal preference. Its hard to get the temperature and pressure right, but we found this in most showers while we were here. The location is good. An easy walk to fishermans wharf. Good food options, but read reviews first to know which are good. Close to city by cable car. Bike and car hire are also close. Loved the afternoon drinks, a great opportunity to meet others traveling from around the world or some just up the road. Will stay again if we come.4.8/514 Nov 2023

Overall, it was a great experience. The location is great, close to most things on the wharf! The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean and the towels are stocked with lots of towels. Parking is very expensive, but thats to be expected.4.8/513 Nov 2023

Very nice room, walking distance to many attractions. Happy hour 5-6 free drink was a nice perk and $10 credit each night for snacks. We got adjoining rooms with family so more space for kids to move around. Also, you can check out 3 albums per room and record players in each room, fun.4.8/529 Sep 2023

I highly recommend this place and will definitely return! 4.5 stars! Great location, great staff and a fun atmosphere all around. I was celebrating my bday and received a nice surprise card and treats. The room is spacious and you can grab 3 records at a time from the front desk and use the record player. The social hour was amazing! Free drinks, dj and the lobby were packed and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Just a block away from fishermans wharf made it the perfect place to be.4.8/512 Sep 2023

We stayed at the kimpton alton last week and had a pretty good stay. The front desk staff were wonderful and very helpful during our stay. Overall, the hotel was very nice, clean, and the location was very convenient and we could walk or use public transportation to many attractions in the san francisco area. A few things to note as to why we did not rate this hotel 5 stars. First, the room walls are paper thin and not well sealed, you can hear everything in the room next to you and outside on the street below the hotel. If you prefer a quiet place, i would not recommend this place to stay. Second, if you plan to park your car ($70 per night, the valet is quite slow. Sometimes we had to wait 10 minutes for them to bring our car, and other times we had to wait 5 minutes for the valet to return to hand them our keys to park our car. Just so you know if you have your car, there is a parking lot open across the street from this hotel for about $40 per day. Finally, and this is a pet peeve of mine a bathroom door that doesnt provide much privacy.4.8/519 Jun 2023

I look forward to returning! This hotel is spotless, and they do everything with care, class, and style. The front desk personnel are outstanding. Extremely considerate, efficient, and courteous. The room is stylish but clean. I was welcomed with a personalized handwritten welcome note, two snack bowls of treats, and two bottles of spring water. The room has a threelp record player! The flatscreen is quite large, and the bed is cozy. Too bad i wont be using it! I almost paid twice as much to stay somewhere not even half as good as this. I have stayed in a lot of hotels for work, and i consider this one of the best while also being reasonably priced. I appreciate everyone at kimpton alton for making me feel special during my stay.4.8/521 Apr 2023

The hotel is in a great location and has easy access to a lot of what san francisco has to offer tourists. The room was clean, had a nice view, and had an oldschool record player with which you could get records from the front desk. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was well maintained. We didnt eat at the onsite restaurant, but it was always crowded, especially in the evenings, so it must be good. We would definitely consider staying here again on future visits to the city.4.8/516 Mar 2023

Such a wonderful place to stay in san francisco. Pier 39 and fishermans wharf are both a hop, and fort mavis is a short jump away. North beach is also a short stroll away. There is so much to do. Just outside the hotel, there are lovely trains that will take you to bart and embarrassment. The area is calm and secure. The hotel is a pleasure in and of itself. Comfortable. Quiet but not small. The restaurant is excellent. Every day, there is a happy hour beer and wine. Strong wifi. Friendly staff. Clean. The rooms are spacious. Large bathrooms. The bathrooms have excellent toiletries stocked, which speaks to their attention to detail. In the lobby, record players with a large selection of records that you can bring to your room. My dog also came with us. Included in the cost. This place is fantastic and has everything i could want without being too opulent.4.6/527 Sep 2024

The staff at the kimpton alton are amazing! The atmosphere is very cool, with a nice happy hour and even an oldschool record player with albums in the room! A special thank you to manager harry and hostess emeralda for making our stay memorable.4.6/54 Aug 2024

I really enjoyed this hotel. Great location, nice room, love the victrola record player in the room. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very nice and helpful. The only thing that bothered me was paying $90 in valet per night for a tahoe. Could have parked in a nearby parking garage for $60 a day.4.6/531 Jul 2024

The front desk staff were extremely friendly and inviting, they were quick, efficient, but also engaging and kind. The location is perfect, its very close to fishermans warf and pier 39. There are also many nice restaurants nearby the hotel. The rooms were great, the beds were very big and comfortable. It felt like i was sleeping on a cloud, and the comforter was fluffy and warm. I appreciate the record player, but there were no records. And i have to say that $90 for parking is absurd. Overall, this hotel is great, but i would appreciate it if you guys reduced the parking rate. Thank you kimpton alton hotel for this wonderful experience!.4.6/516 Jul 2024

The location is fantastic. The room was wellmaintained, a decent size, and nicely furnished. As others have mentioned, each room has a record player, and albums are available for checkout down in the lobby. I was a little disappointed that the bathroom had one of those doorless walkin showers. The bed was fine. A little soft and lacking support for my liking, and the sheets werent the best either. The mandatory valet is shockingly priced, but its just the going rate in san francisco, and i have to admit it was convenient and efficient. Overall, i had a positive experience during my brief visit. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and provided excellent service.Popular Facilities
