I guess I should give the staff and lobby a 5. Party of four! Two rooms. My dad who is 88 requested a handicappedaccessible room. They only had 1.. Yep, 1 and it had been reserved. So they placed him on the second floor which required him to climb two flights of stairs. In this area, there was no elevator to access these rooms. There were also no handicappedaccessible ramps in front of the hotel or in front of the restaurants. From that standpoint, the hotel would receive a 1. But the staff was great, the dress shop was great, the location was great, the grounds were very nice, but the room was really very small.

We have visited this resort every year for the past few decades. It is the only location where rain will not interfere with the purpose of our visit. It was a lovely place to rest, be quiet, and recall. We could take towels and dry off the white chairs facing the water while peering at the ships and cruise ships passing by in the gap between rain and watch the ships and cruise boats pass by. In a beautiful place, we read and played games while it was raining while lounging in the cozy cabin on the island. The story is fantastic. Over the weekend, we saw four weddings. It's incredible! The front desk personnel at the front desk once more met us with outstanding kindness and shequeria. They got on with them far before any problems arise and anticipated their needs. For instance, when I left, they made sure my sister had a horse taxi. They treated us like royalty. We certainly did not deserve everything they did, but did I mention the phrase delightful? All of which keep us coming back.

This is a charming resort with a variety of delicious meals, a wonderful little gift shop, and gorgeous gardens. We enjoyed relaxing in the evenings on the fantastic lawn in the Adirondack chairs drinking wine, looking out over the lake heron, and watching the people around us play in their own little groups in this gorgeous setting. It is at the quiet side of the island, where you can experience more of the natural beauty and get away from the hustle and bustle of the more commercial end. The concierge assisted us in renting bikes and making a carriage tour. Our apartment was tiny, but tidy, and cozy. With nooks and corners for conversation, the resort's interior was roomy and inviting. The resort offered these amenities as well, so we didn't use the pool or hot tub. The staff was courteous and accommodating. I would unquestionably return there!.

I went on honeymoon and I was treated like royalty. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the room was beautiful. We booked through hotwire which was horrible and then the hotel made it better. I would recommend booking directly with the hotel as the people are great and very accommodating. The view is very great. Howard the bell man went above and beyond to help us and make sure everything was done right.

Overall, this is an exceptional resort. Its very delightful, as beautiful as the pictures are, but even better in person. The staff was very helpful, but we had no idea the grounds were so extensive nor what the amenities were, so we had to explore on our own. We did a free tour with Pat and can't recommend this enough. We learned so much had no idea most of somewhere in time was filmed here. We had to watch again just to see. For a couple of reasons our room had broken blinds. Its an inexpensive fix for the price of a room at this resort unacceptable also I mentioned on reservation and phone call that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Not a word., nothing. So, I am planning my next visit for sure. The setting is romantic but a short walk into town, and the true charm of the island shines at night, when all the day tourists are gone, no place like it on earth.
