We wanted to see this wonderful old property with its log structure, soaring space, and semi-rustic accommodations. We received everything and had a great time. But the food is terrible! There is no excuse for a $ 500 night hotel to serve poorly prepared food at a buffet and serve exactly the same menu multiple nights in a row. Happily, after an equally terrible dinner on night 2, we went to the dining room of the nearby snow lodge for the next two nights. There, we had good food that was actually brought to our table.

If you don't make a reservation for one night, there are no alternatives. There are nice souvenir shops within the hotel and several nearby. I would suggest returning to the old faithful inn after visiting Yellowstone. However, I stayed at the lake hotel and did consider the food to be much better there. Location ideal for exploring sites, it was pleasant to leave for the geysers and walk on the boardwalk before the crowds descended upon the hotel at midnight. The hotel was quite busy at midday, but in the evenings, it was peaceful. The hotel lobby is lovely. They do have live music until 10 o'clock at night, which is excellent unless your room is right next to the lobby, like ours was, and a good bar where you can saunter in the lobby or out on the deck for a drink. Several people brought their own stout. In our rooms, we stayed in the historic portion of the hotel. The bed was decent but not exceptional. There were only three outlets in the space, and it was dark and there was no bedside lamp. We requested an extra fan since there is no air conditioning. There are some clothing hooks, one robe, and a single luggage rack. Although the bathroom was pleasant, it was challenging to get a shower. There was no water bottle filler, and the room can only filling up

The inn has a location and a name, but it lacks rustic elegance and dining. Driving up to the hotel to check in, you will find a place packed with people entering and exiting the lobby into and out of tours old guests or young with families. The lobby's interior is quite impressive. The balcony and rafters that lead to the ceiling are wood hewn from the forest. It offers rustic majesty and warmth. Checking is like any hotel. Our$ 520 two-bedroom suite in the east wing was less impressive. It was a long walk from the lobby. It did have a private bathroom. The room might have been impressive in the 1960 s with it's faded wallpaper and unpretentious furnishings, but it is not at that price today. The single elevator in the wing was difficult to find and it was very difficult to navigate the stairs to the second story with luggage. I believe there was bell service to help with luggage, but it was not obvious. The room had a view of a gravel lot between the hotel's east and west wings, which was less attractive than the parking lot, which was my biggest surprise. The restaurant offered a buffet, and it had people waiting for them every half hour, or maybe every fifteen minutes. The salad's dominant characteristic was that it was green, the green and yellow beans were too salty to

We were thrilled that we could stay here without the internet. The room was so cramped, with a patch in the floor and dirty carpet, so they didn't provide the sheets with yellow colors. And then, the location was great because it was close to the employee housing, and they party all night. After that, I stayed in a luxury cabin, and we got 2 queen bathrooms in the price. Subsequently, we got this awesome gazebo. Last but not least, I thought the location was awesome because the location is close to the beach where you'll see a huge mountain lion which is an extremely spectacular vista of the river and this place was nice. Besides that, the staff were helpful and friendly.
