The Power House Lodge was a great choice for us while we visited Custar State Park. We enjoyed the simple motel section compared to the small cabins because that was more than sufficient for our two night stay. The room was clean, had all we needed for relaxing and and resting. The scenery from our room was beautiful. The staff were pleasant, welcoming, and encouraging. Their resturant was wonderful as well. The food great and staff very helpful in selecting our meal.

10/10 We stayed in cabin #59 on top of the mountain. Perfect location, fireplace, porch with a great view and privacy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer.

The property is quaint and beautiful. Powder House is close to Keystone to go into town and walk the shops and restaurants, yet just far enough out to be quiet and relaxing. The staff was the best part of our stay. They were all very friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable about the property and area, and made us feel like old friends. The restaurant was amazing! We had one dinner and one breakfast while we stayed, both meals were the best we ate in the area while there. The one thing that I would like to see next time we stay, there will be another time (probably many), are some small appliances for the “kitchen area”. When I saw they have motel rooms and cabins, we booked a king cabin room, I assumed there would be some kitchen appliances in a cabin. I think it would be nice to have maybe a pop up toaster and like a small induction cooktop. It would be nice to be able to cook some small items when staying multiple nights instead or just having a microwave to reheat things. This one downside was a mistake by me not the property and will not stop us from returning for more stays.

We stayed two nights in one of the motel rooms and five nights in one of the cabins. Both were cleaned excellently and were very cozy. The cabin had a kitchenette and came stocked with pots and pans, dishware, silverware, and cooking utensils. We ate breakfast and dinner at the Powder House restaurant. We had a great experience dining in for breakfast and placing pickup orders for dinner to eat back in our motel room. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone wanting scenic lodging in the Black Hills!
