Room was great! Heated floors in the bathroom, automatic and heated toilet, and the Bluetooth speakers were great!

This was a really nice boutique hotel in walking distance to lots of bars, restaurants, and museums. The “virtual lobby” experience was a little inconvenient when checking in, but the stay was really great.

An unusual experience for a hotel stay--no checkin desk, no staff on hand...more like staying at someone's house—but a nice one. You receive a code number by text on the day of your arrival and that's how you get into the hotel and into your room. Rooms are nice and clean and they have a TV. You have to find your own parking but there are plenty of places around. We paid $45 a night to park. Guess that'a Philly. The location is great, in old Philadelphia, right across from Independence Park, which is beautiful in itself and also is the site of famous buildings where the Declaration of Independence was signed...the first bank...and other historic buildings. Cobblestone streets. You do get the feeling of the history and the Revolutionary War Museum is right across the street. It's like someone gave you the key to their house and said "Have a nice stay."

I am torn about this hotel. The location and price are spot on. However, you have to give them all of your sensitive information to include a copy of your Drivers License.

The place is nice and the room was fairly clean. It is one of those “hotels” with no lobby or staff, so there are cameras everywhere and digital pads to enter the building and rooms. The whole model is a bit weird to me and annoying because of the amount of time you spend taking out the phone to look at the app for messages, instructions, passwords, etc. But if you don’t mind any of that, the place is perfectly fine.

The place was okay but not worth the money. Also, they need to make it clear that it’s self service and no elevator.

This property is a very DIY type situation. If it saves you a bunch of money and that's what you're looking for, with decent accommodations and character it's great. But, if you're looking for pampering, this ain't it. We enjoyed our stay as we were not looking to break the bank and had the kids with us. But, we did not have hot water in the shower which would have been a deal breaker if we'd stayed more than one night.

Lovely part of the city- quirky old building & room. Code didnt work to get into the room which we were rescued by the guys in the bar - couldn’t get in touch with anyone. Room comfortable but slightly lacking in essentials- 1 cup , 1 coffee sachet, 2 towels for 3 of us all staying…shower was freezing the whole time we stayed which wasn’t great! Tried to request late check out via message as we were doing marathon but no response at all still. Guys in the pub downstairs were great help though throughout & food/ drinks were lovely.

This is a building with rooms, not a hotel! It has self-check-in via an app, which must be completed in advance. No one is present. All rooms are 1.5 to 3.5 flights of stairs. There is no elevator. The maintenance is shoddy. The cleaning supplies and extra linens are in piles on the stair landings. Furthermore, fair warning is not given to guests. You have to click "About this property" details to see that it has virtual check-in and accessibility issues. Even after booking, Expedia does not communicate these facts. Nor does the hotel, because the hotel uses text messages and Expedia does not provide them phone numbers. Finally there are maintenance and design problems. The bunkbed in my room had broken guard rails and the large bathroom had no counter or shelf for even a small cosmetic bag. The good news is that there is a sprinkler system.

Really should have been clearer and just stated No Elevator on property. Lots of long stairs. Expedia said need for stairs on higher floors but that is a bit ambiguous and sounds like perhaps just needed stairs for floors on the top levels. Also- very noisy corner. Difficult to sleep at night.

I booked a room for four adults at Society Hill Hotel for a one-night stay (March 28–29). Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing enough that we chose to leave and find another hotel. Upon entering the room, we were immediately surprised by how small it was, especially given that it was advertised to accommodate four adults. More concerning, the room did not match the photos shown on the Expedia listing, which felt misleading. We initially considered staying since it was only for one night, but safety became a major concern. The bunk bed railing had stripped screws and visible cracks in the wood, making it unstable and wobbly. This made us uncomfortable using the top bunk, as it did not feel secure. Additionally, the thermostat could not be adjusted. The room was set to 72°F but felt hot and stuffy, which added to the overall discomfort. Due to the combination of misleading listing photos, lack of space, safety concerns with the bunk bed, and inability to control the room temperature, we decided to cancel our stay and book accommodations elsewhere. We were looking forward to a comfortable place to return to after a night out, but unfortunately this property did not meet expectations. That said, we do appreciate that after contacting the staff, they were responsive and allowed us to cancel the reservation immediately with a full refund, which made the situation much easier to handle.

EXTREMELY small rooms, no storage in the bedroom or bathroom for luggage or toiletries. My husband and I both have bruises from squeezing past the bed. The shower was aesthetically pleasing but not practical. I was also under the impression that I was booking a hotel not an airbnb. We wanted to drop our bags off before check-in but there isn’t a front desk.

The idea of a simple place to stay where you don't need a key, just a code is good. Execution was poor. Code to get into my room was sent to the wrong phone. Shower only had about 2 minutes of hot water. The toilet really didn't need to be remote operated.

We were staying two nights in Old city to celebrate my wife’s birthday and decided to stay at the hotel with our two children. The hotel is beautiful and you can really see the history building in the decor. Our boys enjoyed the bunk beds, heated toilet, and large shower. Unfortunately, that is where are the positives end. We ended up leaving the hotel the same night because the hot water and thermostat was not working. It was a rainy chilly night and we looked forward to a warm shower and hated the fact my son took a cold shower. The hotel refunded our money, but figuring out alternate plans really left a sour taste in our mouth. I would not recommend this hotel and have learned my lesson to only stay at hotels with an on site receptionist. Having to community over text was not great and couldn’t really help us till the morning.

This is not a hotel. It’s an AirBnB. No staff on site only a phone number to call for assistance. My husband accidentally went to the wrong room as the password opened all the room doors.
