Spruce Pine Inn was a great value for my son and I while snowboarding 1hr away at Beech Mountain. The gentleman at the front desk was very accommodating during both days of our stay. It’s not the “Hilton”, but for $50/night on a weekend, we couldn’t have been happier.

The place is a pretty good place. The only thing I didn't like was the walls are too thin. You can hear everything from the room next too you.

Even though I am used to some more Luxury, we had Inside the room and bathroom everything was white clean.

This place is located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Old fashioned but clean and everything worked. It was quiet, too.

The motel was quite charming. It took me back to the 60's when my family was travelling. It is small and old. The single queen room i had was big enough for the bed, fridge on a small table and one nightstand. Two people could move around carefully. There was a low shelf/closet area for bags and hanging clothes. The bathroom was the basics with a shower only, no tub. The room was clean and tidy. Upon entering my wife said she smelled the faint odor of bleach. There was new equipment, flat screen TV, refridgerator, and lamp on the nightstand. The A/C unit was also new and other than being a bit confusing to operate it was more than adequate. There is one overhead light that is bright enough for surgery but the nightstand light and sink light usually did the job instead. The bed was memory foam and comfortable with three pillows.Once i got over how small it was I was quite pleased. You can tell its a true veteran and has that feel. If you are observant you can see the signs of its heritage. The one i liked best is where you could see where there used to be screen doors on the units. If you are looking for luxury go elsewhere. This is a true passing-through motel that was abundant when you just wanted to wash the trail dust off and get a nights sleep. My only complaint was the tile floors looked clean but your feet got black. There was a coffee/breakfast area but it kept getting tore up so it was removed. Clean, neat, compact and convienient to the park and downtown.

We went to the Grandfather Mtn Highland games this year. All we really needed was a place to sleep and rest, and it was nice and quiet. The only suggestion is maybe to place a little more towels in the room for showers.
