This hotel was seriously so beautiful and peaceful. Everything about the stay was relaxing, and I loved how close it was to so many good food spots you could just walk to. The whole vibe here was comfortable and quiet, and it honestly made the trip even better. The only small issue was the bathroom door knob, but overall everything else was perfect :) I’ll most definitely be staying here again.

Very nice and attractive place. Checking intently was a little difficult for me. The location was great and I loved the river walk nearby.

A fantastic cost effective place to stay. The location is brilliant! Located on the river close to outstanding restaurants. Brown and RISD is right there and offer wonderful places to visit. Being an artist the RISD museum was fun and inspiring to visit. The room was very large with views to the street and the river. The bathroom is shared but it never was an issue. The only downside was the noise from cars cruising by at night. Noise canceling headphones made it very tolerable. The only other issue was the antique door hardware needed some love. I recommend staying here if you are more laid back and flexible. I would stay there again.

Excellent, however the room I was in had a door that must have been the bathroom for the other room and everytime it was used I knew about it...other than that, excellent stay and very clean.

Beautiful building, but some issues. Bathrooms are shared, not in the rooms. There are rooms with toilets, but most rooms do not have a toilet, and the showers are all in the hallway bathrooms. This is not clearly explained in the listing. Last month was my first and only stay so far. The door locks have number codes, but the locks are falling off the doors so it’s a problem getting it unlocked. I told them to fix those locks, because the screws were loose. The rooms are clean and beautiful. There is a shared kitchen, to cook in, and a big beautiful deck. The location is wonderful. No person is at the property, so check in advance to put down your deposit so you will get the codes to get in the front door, and to get into your room. When I did start texting with someone, I was able to get answers and I also got my room changed. One of the rooms said “river view”, but it was just a slight little edge of the river through a window behind the bed which was covered! The listing was corrected and they gave me a real river view room. Also, I said I did not know from the listing that the bathrooms were in the hallway and the new room they gave me did have a toilet and sink. Frankly, having multiple bathroom options could be a good thing, because if you are staying with another person, you can use any bathroom outside the room. Great place, but know when you go. The listing needs to be updated to be truthful, because it’s a beautiful place, big rooms, and great location.

The car noise on a Saturday night was horrible…loud music as it went over the adjacent speed bump until 3am.

My stay ended on March 2nd, it took until April 24th to have the security deposit refunded to me because they couldn't figure out how to process it. Not particularly professional. The stay itself was not bad, and the place is quite nice, I love the historical aspects of the property, but it could use some fixes/updates. I was in an upstairs bedroom, on both my bedroom door and the bathroom door there was a gap between the door and the door frame, so other guests walking by could see into the room. That made me uncomfortable as a solo female traveler, and should be fixed. It is very nice that they have free parking in downtown Providence (unlike most hotels in this area) but it had snowed a couple days before and the parking lot was plowed in a way that there wasn't enough parking spots.

Check in instructions were very unclear and communicated via text because there isn't any on-site staff. This could be a cool little hostel-hotel but the bathroom was brutal. The door knob fell off while I was inside the bathroom, which temporarily trapped me in the bathroom, and it wasn't communicated that the old, seemingly decorative, oversized key on our fireplace mantle was actually the key to the bathroom. Soap and shampoo solely consisted of a half-empty Head and Shoulders 2-in-1 bottle. It's a good place to stay if you just need the convenience of a good location (location is really great here) and have no intentions of hanging around the hotel.

Rooming house similar to university student rentals I have owned. Have to go upstairs & down a hallway to get a shower. Located on a busy road and the house is right up against the sidewalk. There must be bars nearby as lots of cars with loud stereos and no mufflers driving by at 1:30 am several nights in a row. Listing says they have cots available. Not so.

“The Hill” is advertised as a hotel, but it operates more like a hostel. The listing is misleading and does not accurately reflect the actual conditions of the property. It was clearly stated that the room includes a “private bathroom.” This was a key factor in my booking decision. However, upon arrival, I discovered that the bathroom is shared among four rooms on the same floor. This directly contradicts what was advertised. I took a screenshot of the listing before my stay, which clearly shows the “private bathroom” claim. When I checked again on 7th June at around 1:00 AM, the listing had already been changed back to “shared bathroom,” which strongly suggests the description was altered after the complaint. I have kept: • The original screenshot from my phone showing the misleading “private bathroom” listing, • Email correspondence with the host, who denied the issue instead of resolving it, • Photos showing the actual shared bathroom situation, • Screenshots of older reviews indicating the same recurring problem. In addition, there were operational issues throughout the stay. The air conditioning system stopped working multiple times over the two nights. I reported this to the host but received no response or support whatsoever. Overall, the listing is inaccurate, the communication is dismissive, and the basic amenities advertised were not provided. P.S.: I could not find a way to attach any photo or video here, but I can provide them if required.

This property should be advertised as a hostel, not a hotel. There are only two bathrooms and none on the first floor. The shared bath situation should be very evident, and it wasn’t in their reservation process unless you read the fine print. It’s misleading.

Shortly before our arrival, we were asked to email a photo of our ID and transfer a security deposit in order to receive the access code. We complied because we had no alternative accommodations. After our stay, we waited for the deposit to be refunded. When we inquired, we were told that our bank had rejected the refund. Alternative payment methods we offered (Visa, PayPal, bank account) also seem not to have worked, as we are still waiting after two weeks. It’s rather unlikely that three banks would suddenly be unable to receive money…

The room is not what is in the picture it is a hostel not a hotel. You will book the room thinking you are getting what you see in the picture but they lie. The bed as terrible it is a shared bathroom there was a mouse trap in the room horrible experience. I asked for a refund for the 2nd night because I could not stay there and they refused to refund me.
