I have been in the hospitality industry most of my life. The Promissory Hotel is a new hotel property built in a 9 year vacant building of an iconic old bank. I didn't know what to expect. Well, that being said, they far exceeded my expectations. The staff are Professional, Polite, and very competent. Their style is accommodating without being overbearing. Perfect. The new restaurant is still working out the kinks, but the latin themed food is both healthy and eclectic. They take care in the food preparation and even the coffee is fantastic and served with a genuine smile! Food is very appropriately priced. The hotel took painstaking care to decorate in a traditional style invoking the culture of old Roanoke, with the morphing of the bank into the style. The rooms are spacious, immaculate in cleanliness, and full of upscale amenities such as soaps and shampoos from Molten Brown. The architecture kept the integrity of the old building and even the solid core doors feel like something when you shut them. The room is Very quiet. The hotel is located one block from the square so no driving is necessary. We were able to walk to everything. This hotel has been a pleasant surprise. We stopped as a two day quick vacation on our way home from further South, and we added a day. We will be back.

Beautiful new boutique hotel in old bank- Lots of space ! Will be amazing once renovations are complete with the restaurant and cafe ! Use Campbell ST IN GPS TO FIND! Parking garage is right down Campbell and you can park right outside hotel to load and unload car. Many shops and restaurants within short walk. We loved eating breakfast at Ernie’s super sweet waitress and owner. Really fun town super nice people - came for concert in Salem

This place is a gem. Newly opened I January 2026. Their cafe and bar just opened July 8. Great place to stay and easy walks to everything downtown.

The stay and welcome were wonderful but the website made it seem their restaurant was open and it was indeed not open yet. Very clean and well maintained facility

Beautiful hotel in a historic building. Gorgeous styling and very comfortable rooms. The staff was polite, helpful, and professional. We are excited to go back when the cafe and restaurant next door are complete. Would definitely recommend!

The staff was lovely and the location was perfect. Walkable to everything, including Berglund Center. Windows didn’t have blinds which should be corrected.

We were in town for a wedding and it was our first time staying at a hotel in Roanoke. We’ll definitely be booking here again. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. It appears the hotel is undergoing some renovations, so I’m sure it will be even better once the work is complete. The location is excellent, with coffee shops nearby and plenty of convenient parking. The staff was warm and welcoming, and we were even offered complimentary cold bottled water as soon as we checked in. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Very nice hotel, with excellent staff. Comfortable bed, wifi does sign you out after a certain time. Checking in can be problematic, the loading zone was full of cars when we arrived.

My husband and I stayed one night, along with friends and had an excellent stay. Staff was professional and the location can't be beat. Our room was very comfortable and clean, and we got a good night's sleep. The hotel is surrounded by shopping and restaurants, so no need to drive anywhere. We will return.
