Jessica at front desk was amazing. If only all clerks were as amazing as her. Besides being very beautiful, she was professional, courteous, and cares about the guests. The housekeeping staff were polite and courteous as well. The rooms were clean, however, they need some tlc done to them by somebody that is proud of what they do. Not someone that does work like a slumlord would. Other than that it was great.

Everything about this hotel is breath taking, from the moment I walked in to the lobby, pool (indoor) and room. Centeral AC and heater! If it had a full kitchen. Wouldn't be enough stars.

Check in was super easy. The lady that helped me was super nice, she was also the bartender. I got 2 rooms. Was able to put me in the first floor when asked for first floor rooms because I have a child in a wheelchair. They must be in the process of updating cause both room(across from eachother) were different. 1 had carpet the other had laminated wood flooring. Pool was nice water was super cold though. Was a little disappointed that the game room was closed. Not sure if they are just updating it or doing away with it but I hope they don’t do away with it. Had a couple drinks at the bar, played some pool with the hubby and kids. Only 1 pool table had balls. Ac was cold. Fridge in our room didn’t work but worked in the other room. Breakfast was ok. Had sausage links(I think they were turkey and wasn’t a fan) scrambled eggs, tots, biscuits/gravy…bagels, toast, mini muffins, waffles, cereal options(not good ones) juice, milk, coffee, fruit…for $200 a night I’d expect a little more but as I mentioned I think they are renovating, so maybe I’d give them another try after they are done.

The lobby area and rooms looked very modern from a distance, but up close everything was dirty. Our bedroom window had smears all over it. At breakfast, not a single table was cleaned off from the previous family who ate there. No clean towels when swimming at the (very murky and not heated) pool and when I requested a shower towel for my room, they did not have any available. Staff were not very friendly but also did not bother us. AC in the room never went cooler than 75 and had a forced hum all. night. long. Like the vent couldn’t pull enough air to keep it cool in there. From a distance, it was a good stay for what we needed. But over all, a poor choice.

The facility was nice and clean, and the check-in staff was friendly and helpful. My only issue with service was when I asked for extra towels before showering and was told I could come get them in the morning. I would have preferred to have them brought up or provided at that time since I didn’t want to have to come downstairs before getting in the shower. The hotel was overall very nice and quiet, except for some noise around 2am and again around 9am when people were loudly screaming either outside or in the hallway. Aside from that, it was a pleasant stay.

It was clean, comfy beds, but the hotel is old/dated and didn't always appear really clean. The whole lobby area was cold, no heat. And the heated pool wasn't very warm. Also the rooms hot water wasn't hot. Staff was helpful and the onsite restaurant was really good and good prices. They had pool tables which we enjoyed. Location was good for what we needed.

I generally stay at Wyndham hotels, a good value for the price, and have always had a very good experience. I had just come from a Drury hotel near the St. Louis airport because it was convenient for a one-night visit. And it was excellent. So coming to the KC Wingate was a bit of a letdown. It's not bad, but a few things stand out. I arrived to a man smoking next to the front door, although a sign says "no smoking within 50 feet" of the door. Bad start. Then the setup is odd--you walk right into a "wall" that is the staircase to the second floor, and have to go around it to the desk. The desk staff was okay, though not especially upbeat. My last day a young woman--Amanda, maybe--was much better. The main floor layout is interesting. Huge open area, with pool at one end and breakfast area/large bar at the other. Breakfast was decent, not exceptional. NO one ever used the bar, though I did watch a cricket match with some of the young guys who work at the hotel. One thing I look for at a hotel is the fitness area. In this one my favorite machine--the stationary bike--was broken. The room itself was fine. All the inside rooms surround the main floor and look down on it, a bit like many of the Hyatt hotels. There places to eat within a short walk, fast food but quick and edible. It is close to the 395 freeway, and was only about 15 minutes to KCI. It is walkable to World of Fun amusement park, which was not open yet. Not a bad experience, just...different.
