Ndalem Langen Kusumo

In the midst of the bustling city of Yogyakarta, there is a place that holds a rich history and culture, known as nDalem Langen Kusumo. Also referred to as Ndalem Madukusuman, this classic Javanese traditional house has stood majestically since 1890. Founded by KRT Madukusumo, a servant of the Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace who was an expert in Javanese music and shadow puppetry, this house serves not only as a residence but also as a center for arts and cultural activities.

Every corner of nDalem Langen Kusumo tells a story of preserved traditions. The pendopo, the front part of the house, stands as a silent witness to various events and guest receptions. In the Pringgitan room, wayang kulit performances are often held, bringing to life legendary tales passed down through generations. The Dalem, as the center of family activities, exudes warmth and togetherness in its three cozy chambers. Meanwhile, the Gandhok and Gadri provide space for daily activities and support family life with a functional kitchen.

Over time, nDalem Langen Kusumo has gained recognition as a Cultural Heritage Building based on the Yogyakarta Mayor's Decree No. 435 of 2018. This affirms the commitment to preserving the distinctive form and structure of the Joglo house.
