We reserved a chalkboard and felt the food was standard and pricey. The positive that our room was very spacious, attractively decorated and recently updated. The slopes of Sakura onset ski resort were close by. The staff was nice and helpful, despite their limited English. On the weekend, which was much busier, the quality declined considerably. Bad no central heating! Our room's only heating source was an unclean kerosene heater that wasn't vented to the outside, which produced carbon monoxide that grew in the room unless you open the windows twice a hour. Also, you cannot run it while you are sleeping, according to the japanese only heater warning. Also, without central heating, all the hallways at the hotel were freezing cold. Even worse, the sink was uncooking, only using ice cold water to wash your hands, face, etc. Our room had a shower, which only intermittently produced hot water. While skiing in Myokokogen, we stayed at the hotel korakuso. My brotherinlaw had reserved the hotel, but there were no English reviews, so we werent sure what to anticipate. Ill walk you through the hotels structure step by step. Getting there, we flew into Naritai Airport. We boarded the Naritai Express to Tokyo Station, followed by the bullet train to Shinkansen to Pagan. Then, we hopped on a local train to Myokokogen. To get there, we took a taxi about 10 to 15 minutes to the hotel. When you arrive, you must remove your shoes and wear slippers the hotel has provided. When checking in, two men brought our luggage to our room. It is challenging to describe what this hotel is like. Two buildings are connected by winding corridors and a fascinating collection of gadgets and mysteries. There is a room with a fireplace, a movie theater, a kids play area, sofas, and counters with items to sell, but no one is manning the shop. One of the chairs sits a gigantic stuffed bear toy. There are several restaurants and small supermarkets where you can purchase snacks, but what struck me the most is the snow. The mens rooms are traditional Japanese and western, and I have a wonderful time skiing at both days and days
