Small ryokan run by a very friendly older couple. Clean spacious room close to Kyomizu-dera with plenty of shopping, dining and transportation nearby.

Simply amazing Ryokan experience! There are no words to fully describe my appreciation to Kamuro An experience & Okami, the host. My expectation of wanting a ryokan experience were beyond met. I have stayed at many nice hotels but this was better than anything I ever had. The host's dedication to show her guests Japanese traditions and cuisine is commendable, lot of hard work behind. Kamuro An is also located at a very prime location, steps away from Kyoto’s popular Kiyomizu-Dera temple & Gion/Geiko neighborhood. I walked to all the prime areas of Kyoto from Kamuro An. Okami specially made a vegetarian friendly breakfast for me which is the best meal of my entire trip in Japan.

"Softly, morning light Fell upon my resting face At Kamuro-an." I could only stay in Kyoto for two nights, but I was most satisfied with my time at Kamuro-an. I wanted a feeling of what it was like to live in a Japanese home, and that's what I found: a place that felt like home. Ookami-san and Danna-sama made a tired traveler feel welcomed. Their local knowledge was extremely helpful, and their gentle guidance was most appreciated. The house itself is beautiful; clean and in good repair. My room was spacious, and had everything I needed. The neighborhood was quiet and easy to walk around. You will not find a better location in Kyoto, just minutes away from the temples, shrines, parks and shops of Higashiyama and Gion. Bring your good walking shoes! The food! I can still remember how fresh, interesting and delicious the breakfasts tasted. Breakfast with good conversation is always satisfying. I learned so much about Kyoto culture. I will always carry with me the sense of peace and genuine kindness I felt as their guest. Even when Ookami-san laughed, trying to find a yukata to fit my big body, and then had to watch my bad dancing! (^_^) When you are a traveler, a place to truly rest is beyond price; A hot bath is salvation. A soft futon is Heaven. In an age when so many tourists are rushing around, faces down in their cell phones, it's good to know that places like Kamuro-an still exist. Ookini, Ookami-san! *waves*

Our stay at Kamuro An was exceptional!! The futon beds were really comfortable and the room super clean and spacy. The host was really kind and introduced us to many aspects of Japanese home and guest culture. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We even received Onigiris to bring on our excursions to the many sights of Kyoto. A stay at Kamuro An is highly recommended for anyone who is looking to really get in touch with Japanese culture on their journey!

Sesampainya di penginapan dengan taksi, saya sangat bersyukur para staf menunggu saya di depan pintu masuk. Dua kamar Jepang itu indah, bersih, dan nyaman. Toilet dan kamar mandi digunakan bersama antara 3 kamar, tetapi tidak masalah untuk tiba pada waktu yang Anda inginkan. Menurut saya ini adalah penginapan terbaik jika Anda ingin menikmati komunikasi dengan pemiliknya. Dia adalah sosok yang ramah dan mudah diajak bicara. Sarapannya juga merupakan pilihan antara makanan Jepang dan Barat, dan ternyata makanan Jepang ala kaiseki sangat enak. Saya pasti ingin tinggal lagi lain kali. The hostress did a great job of providing guests with a traditional kyoto hotel stay. Even before checking in, i was greeted with a friendly reminder that the weather might be wet during my planned days in kyoto. The hostress spent quite a bit of time learning about myself and my preferences for staying, unlike the modern hotel checkin experience i am used to. The hostress also took the time to introduce japanese culture while making guests matcha. Kamuroan offers a musttry breakfast. I was astounded by the diversity and delicate dishes the hostress prepared on the table. Unfortunately, i was unable to eat all, and i still feel sorry because the hostress must have spent a lot of time selecting ingredients and cooking! The hostress also assisted me in calling a taxi when my uber was out and saw me off until the cab turned to a lane she couldnt see. I also love the birthday present the hostess left in my room, very thoughtful and delicious! Apart from the perfect location and beautiful traditional japanese house, the service itself is a great cultural experience that you simply cant miss.

Saya merasa nyaman seperti tinggal di rumah sendiri selama 3 hari. Selama saya tinggal, mereka memberi saya makanan ringan dan paket panas, dan bahkan ketika saya harus segera pergi ke dokter gigi ketika saya pergi, mereka memesan melalui telepon dan menemani saya secara langsung. I heartily suggest staying at the kamuroan hotel if you want to experience some authentic japanese lodging! I had an amazing time at the kamuroan hotel. Its conveniently situated near the kiyomizudera shrine, is quiet at night, and the owners, wife and her husband, are incredibly kind. They will make sure you feel at home, and even though their english isnt the best, they explains to me some aspects of japanese culture and how to behave in a traditional ryokan, you can even wear a traditional japanese dress. The wife also makes a fantastic breakfast!.

I could write a lot about Kamuroan but I'll keep it short! Okami-san runs a wonderful ryokan. As a guest you will feel comfortable & welcomed. The rooms are lovely, the food is amazing and the hospitality is fantastic. It's also in such a lovely location in Gion, allowing early morning & late evening walks when it isn't swarming with tourists which I definitely recommend doing if you stay here. Staying here just feels like being invited into Okami-san's wonderful home for a night or two. If you are looking for something a bit out of the norm of regular commercial hotels in the area I can't recommend staying here enough, you won't regret it. Okini!
