Beautiful lodge surroundings but limited dining options which were happily overcome by the charming and extremely helpful staff. I'd recommend staying here only if you're looking for stillness and tranquility as it's a very off the beaten path location that's at least 20 mins from the city centre of Essaouira which is very charming but quiet too.

In August 2022, I stayed at the Essaouira Lodge, having previously reserved it two years earlier but postponed it due to covid. The other reviews at the time of the original booking really impressed us with how accommodating the resort was, especially the shuttle service to and from Essaouira. Sadly, this was not our first impression, the shuttle spots were limited and the schedule was inflexible, and we felt that the times were set up to keep you waiting at the lodge for meal times, instead of being stuck in Essaouira for at least four hours. And that's if the shuttle ran on time, which it did not. Local taxis cannot get to the resort, so the only alternative are expensive tourist taxis. The food and drinks at the Essaouira Lodge were excellent but expensive, a family of four evening meals costing about a million euros without alcohol. The staff were all very nice, but the service was subpar. There weren't enough coffee cups for breakfast every day, and the amenities would always be taken in addition to alcohol, so it would always be the same. The pool towels were also rarely available. There were ants on the porch several nights after we changed rooms, and although the facilities weren't functioning, we tried to use the oven on three occasions to avoid the high

Having a yoga retreat in this place is very satisfying. When the sun was setting, it was very soothing. The food is delicious, with lots of variety, and with care, it was prepared with malaria. Our vegan vegan vegan friends were quite happy with the service provided. The staff was excellent. We had a wonderful hijab massage. This is a wonderful experience.

I really like this place, clean apartments and suites in a beautifully maintained garden with peacocks wandering around. And then, the facilities here are great, especially the heated pool. After that, the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Subsequently, the location is in Saouira, and also in 10 minutes by car from there.

Excellent original concept. Excellent location, stunning buildings, beautiful outdoor decor, etc., but there are still extremely filthy rooms. More than 30 cockroaches in our first room and 3 in the following. The rooms are not tidy. While breakfast was delicious, we would be careful to eat from the kitchen. Three nights were spent in this place. The pool is poor maintained. You must request that the personnel clean the water because there are many insects in it. All in all, this has reminded me of my hostel days as a backpacker in China. Not what you'd anticipate for a family holiday.

The pool area is really appealing, and the entire staff is extremely polite and helpful. The free shuttle is fantastic! Our first room, a standard terrace room, was quite dark and had tiny windows. We also had to switch the bed because there was a concrete shelf above the bed at head height, making it impossible for me to stand up in bed and my husband hit me twice. Since the router was plugged into the only plug, we had to use it in the bathroom because there was nowhere to put the kettle in. The terrace is fine, but the walls are so high, making it impossible for me to see, and the chairs are uncomfortable, so we didn't utilize it much. We moved to a 2-bedroom apartment, which was much nicer, albeit costing more. It had a tiny garden terrace and kitchen, and was much more spacious.

One of the reasons we booked Essaouira Lodge was the promise of a kitchenette so we could do simple food preparation during our stay. However, the kitchen in our apartment lacked any of the bare essentials required to use it, such as cookware, cooking utensils, or cleaning products. After some back and forth with the staff we managed to get some beat-up pots and pans and a scrubbing brush; we had to forget about doing anything more complicated than boiling eggs. The kettle was filthy and the coffee maker needed an hour of amateur engineering and cleaning to bring it to working order. The apartment itself was quite nice but very much showing signs of age and cumulative lack of maintenance. The shuttle service back and forth from the city is excellent. The pool is nice and the staff in the restaurant/bar are lovely. The breakfast, however, is a bit grim.
