Everyone was so attentive, nothing was not to much trouble. Food was the most Homely I have tasted. Portions were of good size. It was a welcome to find food piping Hot 🔥. The sleeping accommodation was very clean, Double Divan. Kettle coffee or Tea making, Fridge with Milk, Yogurts etc. Cornflakes and Rice Crispes supplied. Bathroom Very Clean, Shower Wc and wash basin.

I must say that I have nothing negative to say about the Axe and Compass. The check in was easy, the room that I had was very clean and comfortable. That facilities, in the bar were very good, and there was a very good and varied menu, though I must admit I did not eat, as I had already eaten. Another really nice thing about the venue, was the clientele, I was a stranger in the area, and the local clientele engaged with me in conversation, and made my stay all the better. Highly recommend the Axe and Compass, will definitely stay again in the future. Thank you to all in the bar and customers for a great evening.

Very friendly and efficient service. When we arrived Hotels.com hadnt selected that we needed a Double bed so the owner quickly swapped it round - next time we will specify it inthe notes. Food at the pub was very good value and nice and tasty with local butchers meat. Fresh milk in the fridge for breakfast and drinks.

Nice pub, decent food, cheap rooms, dull and depressing. Breakfast a few items in a refrigerator. Damaged heater in room 8 balancing on one foot. The room, in my opinion, is dirty, full kettle, shower head and tap. Extractor fan absolutely lifting. wont be back.

Great stay, tidy and clean room. We are avid travelers and have stayed in many places and this is perfect. Continental items for breakfast left in the fridge or, in my case, handy for a midnight snack. Could easily stay here for a week! Baby slept all night and was still comfortable and asleep. I'm listening to the sounds of the birds. Bravo for getting it very right, for the delicious breakfast items and even proper milk for a cuppa. It doesn't get much better than that.

We had a birthday party at the pub so we decided to stay here. The lodge was beautiful from the outside. When we reserved the room, there was friendly staff who answered the phone, but they weren't the only positive things, there were cobwebs and large spiders in every room, which appeared to have not been cleaned in months. The linens were old and unclean, and the walls were disgusting with food and drink stains. There is a single linen that is stained, and the dishes are filthy. The skirting is almost done, which is disappointing as it is in a great location for touring Lighten Buzzard.

When visiting the pub, we stayed in one of the newly decorated double rooms, and it was a pleasant stay. Avoid reading all of the negative evaluations on this website. Although it isn't on the highest level for a cheap room, it wasn't far from it. The fridge's continental breakfast was a nice addition, especially with fresh milk for tea and coffee. The shower was strong and hot, and the king-size bed was really cozy. There will be furniture changes to come, and it can be difficult to hear people upstairs, but other than that, no complaints.

Very clean but a little worn in places .it was expected for basic price staff were all pleasant and help full home cooked food was excellent . We were a little concerned that there may be a bit of noise from pub but was very quiet . Breakfast left in our room was great idea and good choice with milk and yogurt kept in fridge . Over all very good

Used as a base due to friend’s birthday locally. Lovely self contained rooms. Good effort at continental breakfast in the room. Would be nice if the fridge was cold for milk and yogurt though. It felt as if it had only just been put on before we arrived. Value for money.
