The room was clean and comfortable. It had the feel of a cozy cabin and the location was ideal for us. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

The only thing I didn’t like was the cafeteria. Who serves severely watered down orange juice? No decaf coffee either.

Driving and getting to the actual lodge was a little convoluted, but ultimately a great quiet location for a nice outdoorsy feel. Staff was courteous and the room was sufficient.

It was easy to check in. The rooms were nice, clean, staff was helpful. It was great to be at the edge of Canyon De Chelly, near the Visitor Center and the overview drives. Quiet premises, laundry, beautiful gift shop.

The room was very comfortable, and very clean. Easy walk to the cafeteria. Grounds very well maintained. Cafeteria is clean and efficient. Our meals were good and priced reasonable. DEFITNETLY recommend this as a base to explore the surrounding area!

Staff was really nice! The rooms were cozy and the location was a hidden gem. We had the blue corn pancakes at the cafeteria which are not included but worth purchasing. We spent the morning at Canyon de Chelly and were the only ones there early in the morning. It was amazing!

Thunderbird Lodge isn’t a luxury resort — and that’s honestly part of its charm. It’s older, simple, and rustic, but it offered exactly what we needed: rest, quiet, and respite after a long drive and a full day in Canyon de Chelly. The dining room is much the same — comforting, straightforward food in a peaceful setting. Don’t come expecting Michelin-star dining or a Hilton-style experience. Come expecting Navajo Nation hospitality, canyon views, stillness, and a place to exhale. For us, it fit the spirit of the trip perfectly.

A special historic lodge inside the National Monument boundary. Cafeteria not fancy but tasty. I ordered small Navajo taco and it was huge - easy to share. Tours to the canyon can be booked right there at check in. Canyon de Chelly is truly special.'
