I just got home from a 50-minute stopover in yuan province and was happy to have arrived at the airport. The air is fresh, the hills surrounding the airport are teeming with lush forest, the flight is smooth and professional on this China eastern flight. As soon as we entered the air terminal a few steps away, our checked baggage was already there. We proceed straight with the suitcase to the waiting taxi and give directions to the hotel. Then some young men in suits saw how everything was going in front of the airport and when we were about to depart, a few young men in suits told my driver that one more passenger would enter my taxi. It was strange because there were many free taxis on the roads to take people downtown. When the taxi arrived, the young lady entered the cab, packed her luggage and cardboard box into the trunk and we went off. The next group of nice young men in suits who were standing in the middle of town welcomed us with happy welcomes. After having seen this wonderful family reunion, we eventually made our way to our hotel. We stopped in the old town of Shangchong for five days, but it was already booked at the nearby embark grand hotel, which is close to the resort and is one of the world's most polluted. This hotel is great apart from the smell of cigarette smoke. The food was also very good, very little English spoken. I will definitely be back to this property.

My fiance and I didn't expect miracles because this hotel had just begun operating, but the front desk service lacked the grins and warmth one would anticipate from a five-star hotel. Despite my Chinese fiance who was traveling to Taiwan and would have preferred more information about this charming hotel and its environs, the bellhop who led us to our room did not grin nor speak. The room was well-appointed, with ample assurance and a view of the man-made lake. The room's literature, on the other hand, did not account for the event. We were informed that the fountain in the center of the lake was still under construction when the brochure stated there would be a film projected across a fountain. Disappointing. Although not knowledgeable in English, the staff was courteous and polite during the meal, even though they were not fluent in English. I had a shirt washed, and even though I had been moved by three other individuals, the response consisted of two middle managers and the housekeepers on my floor, who went to collect the shirt. As depicted in the plotted time, this was handed back. I'm hoping that service will improve with time, and I'm curious to see that movie projected against the fountain in the center of the lake.

Fortunately, I didn't leave any valuables on the table. The hotel breakfast offers coffee in a pot. However, it is instant coffee. The Chinese tourism authority has issued a fiesta plaque there. But if you think Sheraton and Hilton are four diamonds.

In July 2016, we stayed at this hotel for two nights while ascending Tengchong. In fact, the room was spotless, and the washroom was spotless, which was a first in a lot of hotels where I remained in China. The breakfast was excellent. Everything was great until our drain was clogged and our restroom was filled with just under two inches of toilet water in the morning. When we called the front desk, they sent someone to clean the room, provided us with a new room, but promised to fix the drain. When we returned from our day trip, the room was neat and dry, but the same thing occurred the following morning! Inquired again and asked to speak with a manager. Why bother me if you're leaving today if you're checking out? She offered me the first thing she said, but you're departing today, so why bother bothering me? Did not even say a word of regret, nor did she offer any compensation. I had to request that she open a different room for us so we could take a shower. Totally inappropriate! You must have google translate functioning because they dont speak very well in English. In China, no smoking is prohibited. The none-smoking signs that are displayed in hotels and restaurants are a fad. Even under the nonsmoking inscription, people will light up
