I can't say enough good things about this well run hotel. The setting is ideal for getting away from it all and just returning to nature. The staff is nice and very helpful. The room is spacious and clean. The food is delicious hearty German food and the tarts are irresistible. Would love to stay there again.

We stayed one night at this hotel during a three-day eifelsteig hike. For me, it was a trip down memory lane, taking me back to special holidays in Germany and Austria in the 1980 s as a child. A classical, well-run, family-run establishment like this is unbeatable. The food is typical German, hearty, and well prepared. I loved it so much, a peaceful valley setting next to a small river. We could see a heron wading in the river from the terrace outside the restaurant, which greatly enhanced the atmosphere.

The room's cleanliness is good and the atmosphere is warm. There are some bad things, like the small river below, the good restaurant, and the helpful staff. The road is made of wood. I liked a small creek near the hotel.

This is a strange place, everything should be great, situated near beautiful walks around volcanoes, beautiful garden with a breakfast ok running through, and delicious cakes. But the service is terrible, and no one can be directly friendly or efficient, even if you remind them twice, they cant bring you napkins, they leave you with dirty plates and empty cups when taking your second coffee order, the bill took so long that I went inside to pay, no one smile, we spoke German so I know it wasnt the language, plus I have been there several times and found the service to be equally subpar. I suppose they rest on their laurels just because they can as the location makes it.
