I decided to go to this historic hotel because many hotelsrestaurants in the grand offer day passes for pool access. I made a mistake. I inquired if I could eat lunch by the pool. No. I inquired as to how much pool access would cost. $ 7, which is expensive in the Nicaraguan economy. I went to look at the pool, nothing spectacular, but it would do. The hospitality rep indicated that you could eat lunch and swim for $ 15. This seemed like a little bit of a deal because most lunches at topend restaurants cost $ 5 this wasnt a big deal. I declined and was given a $ 20 to pay her. Do I have anything smaller? No. Then Ill have to return to Cordoba. All right, she handed me a lot of money, not counting it out, while I tried to perform currency exchange. I asked her for a receipt so I could see the mathematics. She declined. Adios, hotel grande. On the street, hotel encuentros welcomed me and said I could use their pool for free. They werent serving lunch, but I could bring in takeout. Holy guacamole, what a difference in customer relations every night.

Great property, good looking grounds, the staff were friendly and hard working. It's a shame i was there during this Covid outbreak and so the hotel and city were empty. My room wasn't the greatest in the sense that the shower didn't work quite well and the hand and face towels we were given were stained and hence looked dirty and were actually NOT changed when the room was serviced.

While the front entry of the hotel is somewhat demure, the hotel gets more impressive with each step you take, going fr one grand area to another. This is an old fort/castle that has large rooms with lots of aged mahogany & other local hardwood, stone & brick. Really impressive! The staff was equally impressive with their attentive attitude and exceptional service. I think the pool area is the largest in Granada, with sparkling water, surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs under lots of tiki thatch umbrellas. There is also a chapel with huge arched thick wooden doors. There are multiple rooms for various size gatherings, like weddings(the photo opportunities will make you think you have traveled back in time to the 1800's)The bedroom & bathroom are a nice size, clean & came with an antique beautiful Ropero (Wardrobe). My wife and I stayed in a Deluxe room, that came with double queen beds, dinning room table for six, and a living room that seats eight, plus a safe. The dining room had a fridge, and the air conditioning worked just great! The double balcony had amazing views of Mombacho Volcan surrounded by and its gorgeous nature. I really had nothing to say, but great things about this resort, before I made the reservations I went on line to research about the best resorts in Granada, I chose 4 including this one, then I sent my nephew who lives in Managua to personally go and check all the resorts and send me pictures,The only hotel that match their website was this one!

This is not your typical hotel. This is an architectural beauty, colonial master piece, former monastery turned into a Hotel. The pictures on their website don’t do justice. The ONLY bad thing about it was the food selection. They didn’t have a lot of choices, the good thing is that along the street there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Excellent location.

I fell in love with the architecture of this hotel!! themed up with the old colony style type very beautiful! I loved their pool!! the water was so warm!!! Their breakfast was good, but i feel like they need to train their staff more on costumer service. The waiter took so long to assist us and our food didn't come at the same time. The room I stayed in was nice but, I fell like their beds could of been more comfortable. It was a bit hard for me to sleep in. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Granada. It is worth the price!! You'll sure have a pleasant experience!!
