I stayed in the center of Brazzaville with a friend for three days at the Residence Hotelier de Moungali, a good hotel. I had a big room with a big bathtub. This is a clean hotel with impeccable service. The manager is particularly competent. He contacted me several days before our stay to arrange a pick up from the airport. I said we were coming from Kinshasa. He immediately suggested picking us up from there. I agreed. A gorgeous young lady came to pick us up on the beach where the boats from Kinshasa arrive. When we arrived at the hotel, the manager in person greeted us. We were pleased. However, I must point out that the hotel restaurant is not very good. On the first day, just after our arrival, we ordered a few dishes. A kind receptionist informed us that we had time to walk while the cook prepared the food. We followed her advice. We left. We visited the region. There were hundreds of small businesses, the majority of which were selling the same clothes. After an hour, we returned to the restaurant, thinking our food was waiting for us. We were mistaken. It took thirty or forty minutes to see anything, and my friend, a Congolese man, struggled too. In other words, I do not suggest eating at the hotel. And I would strongly advise the excellent manager to take action to address

Very cheap hotel with basic facilities near large local market in no part of town him from airport. hotel a bit rundown but generally clean. One of cheap hotels in brazzaville. A good place for a day or two.

The first plus is that you are picked up for free from the airport, and despite it being almost a wee time, the employees were there to pick me up as promised. It is in a central location, but with taxis cheap and plentiful, getting around town is simple. The room was of the standard expected for the price, clean, and functional, although personally I would have preferred not to have to climbed two floors to reach there due to the lack of a lift. The staff were friendly, and despite there being hardly any English spoken in Africa in frenchspeaking Africa, they more than made up for this by their willingness to help. I did eat in the restaurant and didn't find the service untimely, and I enjoyed having a chance to eat local cuisine. I would eat there again.
