I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Pension Macho if you are ever in Liptovsky Jan. After a hard day of skiing, we happened upon Pension Macho one night and it was so good that we ended up returning every night of our visit to Liptovsky Jan. A family-run pension where you are made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The menu is excellent, but sometimes there is something that isn't actually on the menu that is often better! Being a slovakian and definitely unable to read the menu, I was at the mercy of my skiing partner who had to translate everything. I just kept stating that I wanted local food that I couldn't eat at home every day. I was not let down. I had a pig's knee that was delicious with lots of cold pickles and mustard. Pork in jelly with raw onion and vinegar was another favorite items. The homemade sausage stuffed with meat and rice was excellent, and the soups were wonderful. Every night, the bar man, chef owner grandfather, I think his name was ladislav, made me a jug of hot mulled wine, which is exactly what the doctor ordered when you are frozen to the bone. I would definitely recommend you try to eat at Pension macho if you can. You won't be disappointed, I'm sure
