Wonderful hotel with the best service and breakfast we have received anywhere, during a month of travelling. The prefect room was large, two sinks, beautifully kept, with instant access to the pool. Our early departure meant we received a wake up call with a take away breakfast: a nice touch

Beautiful room, well appointed, the staff were lovely. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is located right in the middle of the old fort area, despite this the rooms were quiet. The pool was lovely & great to escape the heat of the day. The meals at the restaurant were excellent. Great value for the quality of hotel. Highly recommended!

Beautiful colonial building, very kind staff that let me stay much later for check-out. Perfectly located in the middle of Galle Fort. The only problem was the key to open the room, ancient and beautiful, but very fiddly.

As stated in another review. Very well run hotel with attention to detail. Good breakfast. Lovely pool. They were very generous to us - upgrading us for 2 nights to the main building and including breakfast.

We booked 3 nights on 2 separate bookings. For the first 2 nights we were upgraded to a room in the main building.Thoroughly well run hotel with attention to detail. Nothing too much trouble for them. They seemed to be falling over themselves to be nice to us.Hotel situated in the centre of Galle Fort. Tastefully converted building. Super pool, great for cooling off. Good breakfast included - we opted for the Sri Lankan Hoppers with mango lassi etc.

Amazing hotel in the middle of Galle Fort. Service was one of the best. Extra thanks to Madushan and Petar. We were encouraged to visit the sister hotel, Kurulu Bay. And we had an amazing afternoon and evening there. The food in the restaurant both at the Printers and at Kurulu was the best we have had in Sri Lanka so far. We will be back!

The hotel is a little oasis in a historic building close by the fort. We had a church room with a very high ceiling and one of the nicest bathrooms I have ever had. There were quite a few mosquitoes, but luckily, the bed had a net. The meal prices are expensive for Sri Lanka but the pavlova was excellent. The building really has character and I can see why it appeared in Condé Nast Traveller. Although small, we really enjoyed the coolness of the swimming pool. We were even able to get a free late checkout. As for the location: you can very easily walk to the fort and then make your way around the city to the lighthouse and walk back through the center (best time is sunset). Overall, we were very happy and would highly recommend this hotel.

This was perhaps my favourite hotel experience in many years of travelling. The building and decor is very tasteful given the history of the area. The staff are very attentive and happy to lend any assistance you may need. Highly recommend if you enjoy historical and unique hotel experiences.

About Fort Printers

Galle Fort is a warm and breezy place, some streets bustling in the morning, but the afternoons and evenings are quiet and serene. The Fort is now a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are numerous restaurants, bars and shops in Galle Fort. Links to the public transport network are about a 10-minute walk away. This 5-suite boutique hotel was first a college and then a print shop, hence the name of the hotel and its suites - History, Geography, Arts, the Headmaster's, and the Prefect's which are all different in layout and design, but all spectacularly well-designed. This historical hotel was fully renovated in 2009 and welcomes guests in the lobby where 24-hour check-out service is also available. Facilities include air conditioning, a hotel safe, currency exchange, hairdressing salon, TV lounge, conference facilities, wired and wireless Internet access, room and laundry services, as well as a car park and bicycle hire. Guests can wine and dine in the café, bar or restaurant. The hotel is comprised of suites in a villa. The suites are air-conditioned and elegantly furnished with a mixture of classic and contemporary handmade furniture and accessories. All are en suite with a shower and hairdryer. Double or king-size beds are available. Further in-room amenities include a direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, hifi, Internet access, a safe, ironing set and a terrace. All also come with a kitchen with a fridge, cooker, microwave, and tea and coffee making facilities. Guests are invited to take a dip in the swimming pool and there is also a children's swimming area and a poolside snack bar. Sun loungers are laid out on the sun terrace and on the nearby beach. Guests can also enjoy a massage, or go diving, surfing, windsurfing, sailing, catamaran boating or biking. There are also entertainment programmes for adults and children.
