Comfortable room, a real bargain and the breakfast was wonderful. The owner was lovely, really friendly and helpful. I was staying in a single, which would probably be snug if staying for a while/have loads of stuff, but for a few nights I'd strongly recommend (or book a larger room). Location is excellent, castle at the top of the street! Shops and restaurants all on the doorstep!

Pembroke is a lovely town, and the Middlegate Hotel was ideal as a cheap and cheerful place to stay the night. Location was perfect - although on a main road through the town it was very quiet, and only a short walk to the castle and other attractions. There is a bar and a cafe (where breakfast is served) on the ground floor, so all needs are catered for. There was a TV and common room, although i watched the TV in my room. The hotel owner was great, couldn't do enough for his guests

I was worrying about this hotel before I stayed there becasue I'd read lots of negative reviews. But the hotel was nice! I stayed in a single room which was same with the photos. The room and bathroom were clean, bed was comfortable, TV worked well. The breakfast was also great and owner's family was very kind! I was satisfied with my stay :)

Wir sind vor dem geschlossenen Hotel gestanden, man musste eine Telefonnummer die an der Türe war anrufen. Der Anruf wurde zwar nicht entgegen genommen, jedoch erschien eine Dame und hat uns freundlich empfangen. Sie hat uns alles erklärt und auch dass Zimmer gezeigt. Das Zimmer war in guten, sauberen Zustand. Das Bad ist ein wenig eng, aber dass kennt ja man auf den Inseln schon. Das Hotel ist über einem Pub, Montags mit Live Band bis 23 Uhr. Somit ist für Unterhaltung gesorgt. Der Besitzer ist sehr freundlich und redet mit den seinen Gästen, hat uns noch ein paar Tipps gegeben. Frühstück ist auch völlig ok. Wir werden, wenn es sich ergibt wieder hier Übernachten.

The hotel is 10 mins from train station (turn left and walk below railway bridge up main street. Hotel is on left of street near post office). Please note you must request the Pembroke stop with train conductor and wave the train down on platform if you want to get on. The pub acts as hotel reception. Its family run they are very friendly and knowledgeable/helpful - a free drink and chat welcome you to the hotel which is a real nice touch. The rooms are a bit dated and could do with a revamp but this is reflected in the low price. They have all you need and are clean. Hotel central to shops castle etc. The very kind hospitality made you want to stay again - larger hotels should set their standards this high.

I enjoyed our four night stay, in particular the bed was comfortable, everything worked, quiet so a good sleep, breakfast good too. The owner was friendly. There was a group of musicians just playing folk and other acoustic to each other on one night which was excellent. Locationis good too, in the middle of Pembroke, car parking at the rear (via the Parade). Initial impression was not great as it felt like stepping back in time and some decor was tired inside and out The service was sometimes hesitant but don't let this deter you, they have got the basics right and it was reasonably priced. It certainly grew on me. Just do not expect 5*.

Well situated in the center of Pembroke. Onsite private, gated parking area. Family run business, clearly hard working people but delivered with a smile. Pre ordering breakfast (served 9 t0 10am) the day before won't suit everyone, but they have a system and it works Quality breakfast, well presented

A very pleasant stay in Pembroke. The hotel was wonderfully accommodating in allowing an early check in and a late check out. The location is convenient and walkable to various sites in the town. It is an older hotel with its furnishings, but was very clean and perfect as a base-point for doing some hiking in the area.
