This was the most fun stay I’ve ever had. Yes, the property is old but what character it has!! When I first arrived in the pub and checked in at the bar, I was greeted with such wonderful enthusiasm from the patrons and hospitality from the staff! I felt at home immediately. In fact, two of the patrons, older gentlemen, helped me carry my luggage, which included a large, heavy suitcase, up the VERY steep stairs. Nevertheless, despite very minor inconveniences, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this charming inn. I feel l have made friends for life. KUDOS to my friends, the staff - Andrea, Lee and Claire! If I possibly can, I will definitely return. And I heartily recommend this inn to those who want to experience some old romantic charm in a familial atmosphere. But be aware, it is old, creaky floors, stairs and all! But also really great! Oh, and they serve a delicious, free English breakfast! But currently no lunch or dinner is available. But you can order food from many of the great restaurants nearby and eat it in the pub with your pint!

Arrived on foot from the nearest bus stop. The pub hanging sign is missing so i entered the premises and confirmed with the cheery lady working the bar that i was in the right place😁 After the paperwork was completed i had to pay a £50 non-smoking deposit which i expect to see refunded onto my card. I was shown to room 13, a single room, as booked and also shown where the washroom was. The room contained a kettle, tea, coffee, a fan, a nightlight and a small flat screen TV, so was well appointed. The time for breakfast was also discussed and selected. All the staff i encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cereal, toast and also a cooked meal as well. Fried egg, grilled tomato, baked beans, 2 sausages and 3 rashers of bacon. Perfect! On leaving, i asked where the nearest bus stop was which headed out of town. Turns out that it is right opposite the pub! Again, perfect! For those driving, there is a car park accessible to the rear of the property via Chiltern Road.

Excellent accommodation and very friendly staff. The room was clean but small, the TV being little bigger than the kettle. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful and nothing was too much trouble. The pub is about ten minutes walk from the centre and well worth having a drink in. The locals were friendly and the Guinness was top notch. All in all I would stay again without any hesitation and would recommend others to do so too.
