This place has an excellent location, food, and staff. This is a great dog-friendly hotel in the true sense that dogs can eat and stay with you in the bar area, and the staff welcomes them very kindly, one of the main reasons we return. Originally, when the hotel was part of the English Lakes Group, I stayed last minute to celebrate my wedding anniversary. But the bathroom's floor is stained, rusty trims, a corroded grout, and cracked floor tiles. Bathroom paintwork that bashed, and carpet that grew out from under door plates. I think the room is overpriced given the condition. I would stay there again, hoping that the room will be fixed with a fresh update.

I was very disappointed with the food at this hotel. Too expensive for the level of service. The only positive was the young man I believe was called Thomas a young lady with very shaved hair who would both be better suited for a 5 star hotel. I gave it a score of average because it would not take much to change, but considering the cost of a 2 night stay, I had expected much less, it is currently well below average. The food left a lot to be desired. It can be difficult to search for a recipe and actually make something that matches whats on your menu, the breakfast was excellent, but the rest of the food needed a lot of help!

At the end of a day, we had dinner by the table. The restaurant was quiet, and the staff was standing nearby, which made us feel a little intrusive. They were watching and waiting for something, and one member of the staff attempted to take my starter before it had been eaten. You must order everything at the bar, which is awkward if you want to have another drink at the table after your meal. The starters were nice but surprisingly small. To be honest, the Thai red curry was fine but heavily spiced, and they were no better than a decent ready meal. The dessert was very little. Our main course plates were still on the table throughout our dessert as the restaurant had been busy by the end of the meal.

What a great vacation with attentive staff and excellent food. Lovely room with a great view over the lake. Extensive variety of food on the dinner menu which was all really well presented. Thanks for a great stay.
