I had just lost my entire reservation and payment from another property and booking agency; because I had opted to arrive a day late. Here we were with no place to stay. and Expedia suggested Eden Roc. The people at that property, one and all, were kind and considerate and presented us with a standard efficiency at a reasonable price with a balcony and ocean view! I had always wanted to rent that type of property. We had a pleasant stay; close to the boardwalk, ocean, shops, and rides. We loved it!

I'll start with the pros first. I feel like the location was what I paid for. That was amazing. Just a few steps from the boardwalk. Once we stepped on the boardwalk it didnt matter the direction we took because we were right in the middle of it all! The room was surprisingly clean and the shower pressure and temperature were great. The cons. The checkin location and room we stayed in are 20 blocks apart (which i did know). I checked in and was given a room code and not a key. When we we needed a key. The hall has a terrible smell. We got in the room and found it to be very dated. The queen bed was a fold away bed. There were no mattress covers or pillow covers. You had to put your own sheets on as well. We were provided with 2 sheet sets (there was a pull out sofa). The 1 set had a large stain. The pillows were disgusting looking as they were yellow. Again perfect location but I bought a cover and sheets before I would even allow myself to sleep in the bed.

I’ve stayed in Ocean City countless times at every type of hotel—from budget-friendly to high-end—and this was, without question, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I’m not a particularly picky person, so that says a lot. The biggest issue started with check-in. There is no front desk at this hotel. You have to drive to their sister property on 20th Street just to check in, and the staff there seemed unfamiliar with the hotel they were checking us into. There is also no way of calling anybody at a front desk regarding your Stay the phone just rings and ring s…. I was also charged an unexpected $30 “resort fee.” When I asked what it covered, I was told things like towels, soap, and washcloths…basic hotel necessities. Even worse, if I needed any of those items, I’d have to drive back to the sister hotel on 20th Street, despite staying on 1st Street. I was also charged a $100 deposit that was supposed to be returned after my stay. It never was, and I’m currently disputing it with my bank. The room had a nostalgic 1970s feel, which my wife and I actually ended up enjoying. Just know this is truly a no-frills hotel—don’t expect modern conveniences like USB chargers or even a phone in the room. The only real positive was the location. Being right on the boardwalk and steps from the beach was fantastic. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to make up for the poor management and overall experience. I love Ocean City, which made this stay even more disappointing.
