Such a cute and nostalgic building in a great area. You can see the lake across the street. The bar and restaurant have live music and great food.

Unique building in a historical area of Madison. Got to speak with the owner about the history of the property. Great location in Madison. A picky wish would be for the room could use more strategically placed outlets for charging devices. A hidden gem. We will go back.

The Hotel is like the old railroad hotel it probably used to be except with larger rooms, wonderful amenities, very clean, and comfy bed. Its decor is like the early 1900’s - you’ll enjoy looking at the photos and artifacts. Rosalina served a good breakfast at the street level cafe. There is a large, busy intersection including a train crossing out front but I was not bothered by traffic nor trains (I think 2 came thru.) I had a view of one of the lakes across the street. Highly recommend this delightful stay.

Super friendly staff:) Our room was clean and comfortable. It is near a few bars which makes it loud at night, but they are so thoughtful and provide earplugs next to the bed. Parking was right behind the building. The charm was worth it rather than staying at a Hilton or Hyatt:)

This is an old hotel that has been kept up. It is clean and comfortable. We really appreciated the food complex that is nearby. There were 4 different places to eat under the hotel. We received drink tickets and breakfast tickets. It made staying close easy. The nearby lake walk to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Convention Center was lovely, too.

It is just magical to stay at this enchanting hotel that takes you back to a glorious bygone era. The antiques throughout, including sitting areas and two person hammered copper tubs make one feel very pampered at a price similar to the chain hotels. The property had a pub on the ground floor with live bands nightly. Next door, in the same parking lot, is a casual German restaurant with an outdoor beer garden. Next to that is a pub that has outdoor sand volleyball, occasional karaoke and the best fish fry, offered every night, than I’ve had in decades. The location is just a short walk to a beach on the lake and the neighborhood appeared to be very safe. I found the least expensive rate on Expedia. I have already booked my return visit.

I've stayed at the Hotel Ruby Marie before, and I came back. I even passed their card along to friends. The furnishings are antique, like the building. The amenities are great; a ticket for free beer at happy hour at the bar on the lower level; when I also wanted dinner, I was encouraged to carry the beer outside to the bar/restaurant next door for dinner. The weekday breakfast buffet is abundant, including a delicious dessert, and set in an antique cafe surrounded by retired kitchen equipment and even a library. And quiet, as it's only for hotel guests. The location is across the street from the walking/biking trail beside Lake Monona. One heads-up: there are railroad tracks right out front, and they are used! One night 4 trains passed through, the next night none. I understood why they provide earplugs along with the mints on the beside table.

I'm traveling to Madison regularly for work, and this is my home away from home. Great area with lots of restaurants within walking distance, and it's right by the lakeside bike and walking path. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room is comfortable and the decor is charming, making it feel more homey than a sterile modern hotel. The breakfast is basic but good and had exactly what i need, with eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes, yogurt, fruit, coffee, and coco flan. The bar a couple doors down has live music most nights but it is over by 9 or 10pm (at least on wreknights) and it's very quiet afterwards. The heating/AC system is somewhat outdated but works well enough for me. I'll definitely be coming back on my next trip.

I was very impressed with the hotel- excellent value for money and good location. This is a hsitorical hotel. Does feel dated but has charm. Maybe needs a little more TLC. Howver, the room and bathroom are updated and very comfortable. The quality of the bedding was superb. My bathroom was spacious and the towels full and fluffy. The included full breakfast is more than generous and excellent (great Chef). Breakfast s served in the adjoining German/Bavarian beer haus. Very authentic building- great atmosphere. Wish I had gone to this brewery rather than the brewery I stopped at Saturday night:( There are not many good hotel choices in downtown Madison. I would stay here again.

The hotel Ruby Marie is a really nice, small boutique hotel. We were in Madison for a family visit. The Ruby Marie great for a weekend getway in Madison, located close to the Capital Square, State St, and the UW campus. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was large and clean, with a refrigerator and an additional sink. The Ruby Marie is definitely more of a vacation hotel than a business hotel - there was only a small desk. Because the hotel is in the city, there is some street noise. There were 2 packs of earplugs in the room. Lastly, the Ruby Marie is located in the same building complex as the Up North Saloon and the Comeback Inn. Weekend breakfasts are served at the Comeback Inn - which has a great brunch. Highly recommend the Ruby Marie for vacation stays in Madison!
