This place is great, and they will be better than last time. They have very good hosts, especially Nicole and Jamie, who knows the area well enough to plan your trip to suit your requirements. We wanted to see ketchikan away from the chaos caused by the cruise ship, and Nichola and Jim helped us. The location is quite beautiful, it is close to the airport without being on top of it. The inn is beautiful, warm, and kept up well. When I returned from a long hike, it was pleasant to open the windows or sit on the deck and listen to the sound of the waves hitting the shore while watching the eagles fly by. I miss speaking with jim and nick.

We had a wonderful experience at the Black Bear Inn. The owner named Nichola and the owner named Jim are friendly. We had a large house on the water and it was very clean, comfortable and quiet. We slept very well. It's also in a good location. Definitely recommend.

We arrived at the black bear inn in august, were greeted by the man of the house, and were taken to the inn. It was just overcast, and the moon was shining. The inn sounded terrific. We had only stayed one night there nine years ago. Our cabin was available to us when we arrived. An update that added a living room and a fulltime kitchen surprised us. What a new upgrade! All new appliances and furnished! Everything was what we expected. Many of our time was spent running around Ketschkan, but we always waited early to return to the inn to sit out back on the stairs leading down to the shoreline. Multiple seating areas on different levels and a beautiful view of the water. Im a little jealous of the people who will be staying at the inn in the near future because a new large deck for the water is being built.

We stayed for 5 nights and wished we could be here longer. We were in the homestead room and adored the porch area that faces the water and the lovely patio area. The enclosed porch had a fridgefreezer and microwave and we loved that the windows were open for fresh air. We cooked in the well-stocked outdoor kitchen and watched the passing float planes as we sat by the ocean for a few evenings. Nicole and Jim are really accommodating and want you to have a wonderful time in Ketchikan. Jim even took us to the ferry to the airport! Beautiful area, pleasant people, and a lovely stay!.

I get the opportunity to stay in a lot of places this year as the editor of a travel magazine. They bring a sense of comfort and home to one of the most amazing places I have ever stayed at. The black bear inn's staff is incredible. The inn is perfect in every way. I can't imagine anyone falling in love with this place. The list is endless, from the location on the shore to the amazing rooms and beds with the best comforters. I have stayed with them several nights and it seems to be getting better every time. They are not the most inexpensive place in town, but worth every penny.
