Doesn’t look like much from the outside, but what a lovely place to stay. We stayed in the Bailey cabin and we were so comfortable

Clean room, but our cabin is close to the highway, noisy at night.

Super cute cottages. I’m in a suite with a living room, kitchen and separate bedroom and bath. Well kept, thoughtful selection of decor. Super comfy. Beautiful shared spaces and porch. Only difficulty is lack of restaurants and groceries.

I decided to stay at the Mount Williamson Basecamp on my way down to Palm Springs as I had a specific reason to be in Independence for the evening. I had no idea the charming little gem this spot is! If they have a room, make sure to stay there!

Doug was helpful and friendly on check-in. We loved the view of Mt. Williamson behind the motel. The room was very clean and cozy and had everything we needed. The towels and linens are of good quality and the beds comfortable. It was handy to be able to park right out front of the room to quickly unload. As with most hotels and motels along 395, it’s close to the road, but earplugs and the a/c unit drowned out the noise. A good spot to head out to Death Valley the next day.

I booked this property thinking it was close to national parks. I didn’t find out until too late to cancel. We left one day early to get closer to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The owners were very friendly and asked us to join them for pizza and wine. We met some of their friends. If we were hikers, this would be an ideal place to stay. We did travel north to see some of the beautiful mountains and lakes.

I stayed at Mt Williamson on a business trip. It is early in the season so the place is not humming in its operation. The room is rustic but functional. There isn't much amenities to speak about. What bother me to most is the poor sound insolation. My unit is close to the main road and at night when big trucks and speeding motorists speed by, the noise penetrates the room and it would be difficult to sleep if you are a light sleeper. Check in and check in hours are limited and much of the information about the motel and surrounding areas are self-help. I will probably not going to stay at Mt Williamson in the future given there are other options that I will try to test out.
