Ryokan fabuleux, une remontée dans le temps, un personnel attachant, un service impeccable. Futon confortable, onsen. Excellente cuisine japonaise savoureuse et raffinée que ce soit le soir ou le matin. Un grand merci aux personnes d’un âge respectable officiant dans cet établissement. Ce fut une belle découverte et un séjour de 3 jours surprenant.

I heartily endorse this ryokan for your trip to takayama. During our twonight stay, which included breakfast and dinner, it was the finest meal we had during our entire threeweek vacation. We had a room with a private bathroom and shower, which was convenient but not necessary, as the public baths are also very comfortable. I was blown away by the kindness shown by everyone working here. Situated just a short stroll from the train station, it is conveniently close to the sightseeing spots.

The hostes are very nice. They speak a little bit of english but it is just enough to communicate with you. Breakfast and dinner were great. Its japanese food so western people can find a little weird but at the end we really enjoyed it. The accommodation is small but thats what makes it Japanese, i guess. There is a private hot bath and it was really enjoyable. I will stay there again.

The location and price are great, like living at grandmas house. The owners of this charming ryokan are beautiful and have been welcoming guests from abroad for years. Some rooms have river views like ours which had 2 chairs and a sun roof overlooking the river and common areas. The place features the collection of antique samurai armour from the family. One room has a private bath. They offer full or half board meals which are amazing traditional spreads of local japanese cuisine.

The best place and best experience we had in japan was sumiyoshi ryokan. As soon as you walk in, you are transported back in time. The traditional japanese tatami house is covered with historical artifacts, it feels more like a museum. The trip to your room is an experience in and of itself! We had a garden room with 2 rooms one for sleeping and one for eating, with a small terrace around the perimeter overlooking the garden, separated by shoji screens. We didnt have dinner for all nights but wished we had! It was a spectacle! They brought out the most beautiful dishes that did not disappoint in taste. There were so many dishes and they catered to my vegetarian diet. It was the best food experience we had in japan. Then there was breakfast each morning which was similarly impressive. A never ending delight of perfectly curated plates! Then there is the onsen. They have 2 private onsens. One better than the other, but both are perfect for couples on holiday who would rather experience the onsen alone. It makes you nice and warm to relax in your tatami room in your kimonos. And i cant leave this review without mentioning the owners. They were the most welcoming and happy people. The lady even taught us how to make small sushi with our chopsticks! It wouldnt have been the same experience if they werent there, paying attention to every little detail to make our stay perfect!.

The best experience we had in japan. Everything was perfect in this ryokan. The welcome from the very kind owners with matcha tea, the house decorated with antiques and a garden, the old japanese style room overlooking the miyagawa river, and the yukata available for guests delicious, authentic dinner and breakfast with traditional local dishes like hida beef. I highly recommend coming to takayama and sleeping here to have an authentic experience that you will remember, it is worth it.

Sepertinya rumah pribadi yang sangat tua, dengan banyak ruang. Kamarnya banyak dan kamar di lantai satu digunakan sebagai ruang makan para tamu dan kami menginap di kamar di lantai dua. Meskipun saya memiliki toilet dan buffet di kamar, salju turun di tengah musim dingin dan pemandian di lantai pertama jauh lebih hangat! Itu benar. Dari jendela kamar saya, saya melihat atap putih bersih dan pemandangan orang-orang yang bergegas ke Pasar Pagi Miyagawa setiap pagi dari seluruh penjuru sungai. Saya makan banyak makanan. Selain itu, suasananya sendiri menawan. Mungkin agak jauh dari stasiun, tetapi saya berjalan dengan ransel di punggung dan banyak beristirahat. Sangat dekat dengan pasar pagi.
