Effective September 1st, 2017, as per Government of Malaysia requirements, hotel guests who are not Malaysian citizens or long-term/permanent residents of Malaysia will be levied a tourism tax of RM 10.00 per room per night stay. Please note these changes in tax structure will result in revised taxes being charged and will be payable additionally during check in.
Effective now until 31 Dec 2024, Malacca City Council imposes a Heritage Tax of MYR 2 per room/night based on local star rating. Starting 1 Jan 2025, the tax will increase to MYR 3–5 per room/night for all types of accommodations. The star rating follows the local council’s classification and may differ from online listings. This tax is not included in room rates and must be paid directly to the hotel upon check-in.
