Great experience in this hostel. In May, I stayed there in May, and despite the positive reviews I found online, the proprietor was very unhelpful. He refused to let me know that he could keep our suitcase safe for the night while we were camping and collect it the following day even with the offer that I have to pay only to keep the bag. Even though I've received such assistance numerous times previously, this is the first time I've experienced such a reaction. He also seemed very reluctant to help with that and other issues, even when I asked about suggested islands and ferry times. In addition, the toilet was covered in ants and appeared unlocked afterward. Very dissatisfied overall, particularly with the service. Excellent points, a reasonable position and a cheap rate.

I highly suggest it, it's one of the most wonderful places I've ever stayed while in Asia. We originally reserved a one-night stay but ended up staying for five! Wonderful guest house with a real homey feel. The Japanese room, where we stayed for the first time, was fantastic, with very cozy futons and excellent air conditioning. The last two nights, we spent in the standard twin bedroom, which was equally cozy and clean. As soon as you arrive, the proprietor is so cordial and makes you feel quite at home. Use the microwave and fridge in the room for free coffee in the morning. Additionally, the washer and dryer's use was a huge plus because it can be helpful when you're traveling for 5 months with a limited supply of clothes!

Only the location is the main positive thing. We spent 5 nights in this place. The cleanliness in the room is not very good, after biting my leg and feet, I found bed bugs. We were a group of 3 people and figured it was better to find another place. The photo on the website and the friendly service from the owner are misleading me.

Rakutenya is in a downtown area of Ishigaki close to a lot of restaurants and shops and close to transportation nearby. The owner is really friendly. Come with 100 yen coins for AC which is needed to sleep at night. Overall, a great and cheap place to stay.

This was a great price. We stayed one night in the Rakutenya Guesthouse. It has a hostel-like feel, with shared bathrooms and communal areas. The owner is extremely friendly and accommodating. There is laundry on-site and air conditioning available for 100 yen hours. We heard some noise around 12 am, but other than that it was totally fine and a great price!
