This is a terrific small place to stay that is incredibly welcoming. It is a lovely, renovated traditional house. They provide a dormitory for people on a tight budget, a twin room with bunk beds, that is also quite reasonable. We spent a week there. They also have bigger traditional Japanese-style rooms, which cost a little more. They provide a simple, free breakfast of toast and jam, and exceptional coffee is available all day for free. It is a location where you can meet other travelers and exchange ideas. It is quite convenient because it is only one stop on the train from Kyoto main station, but it is also a tranquil area. In a number of nearby locations, you can get delectable Japanese cuisine for quite cheap. The staff is really helpful in providing recommendations for activities and special events. Victoria deserves special mention because she gave us some fantastic places to see that are not included on the main tourist trail, which improved our visit. Thank you, Victoria.

After spending two weeks in various dorms, pods, and capsules, a friend and I stayed in the twin room. To have a door was unusual. Machi is a charming little guesthouse, and I could easily have stayed a full week there. After long days of exploring Kyoto, it is a serene place to unwind among all the plants in the ancient structure, which has undergone considerable care and taste. With a or pass, it is simple to access the main train station, and several bus stops are within walking distance. I intend to return.

I will see you soon again, Peter and Stacy. We stayed there for three nights and had a great time! The region, shimabara machi, is lovely, very well-kept, with a lot of local restaurants and interesting sightseeing spots, like area and a beautiful museum that used to be a pleasure house during the edo era. The guesthouse itself is a traditional kyoto town house that is 100 years old and renovated in style and taste, has all the modern amenities, and is easily accessible from one stop of Kyoto Station. In short, thank you machi staff for your assistance and kindness.

The hotel's main room's quiet hours start at 11 p.m., which made our room have a really roomy size, but it might be noisy if other guests were hanging out in the room. The staff were very helpful in providing tour guides.

This was my first visit to Kyoto and I wish I could have found this guesthouse sooner! The house itself is quite old which makes everything unique. The facility is very clean and the staff are very good. Breakfast and coffee included free of charge. All other guests here are very polite. This is the place for you if you want to escape from people and just relax.
