Karuizawa is a hidden gem that is very close to Tokyo. We went on our own little architectural excursion, checking out all the unique properties scattered among the forests, and decided to stay at the hoshizora karuizawa for a quiet retreat. Unfortunately, it was raining, so we were unable to take any of the birdwatching or eco walking tours that the hotel offered. We loved the startling experience, the kiseki zen food, wandering through the gardens, and relaxing on the balcony to fresh air. All of these details were carefully considered for the guest to have a deeper cultural experience of Japan.

We stayed as a family of four and had a great two days. Although this is a very expensive place, you will certainly get your money's worth with the service, food, and setting, the room was a touch subpar and in need of some care and love. Despite the fact that we had extremely complicated food requirements, the kitchen was incredibly accommodating for both nights. The marshmallows by the river, the wonderful greeting to the sounds of traditional Japanese music, and the cheerful staff everywhere were all fantastic. It was simple to travel from there to see the snow monkeys for a day, which was easy. If they renovated the rooms, it would simply be another star from me.

I would absolutely recommend Hoshizora karuizawa for a lovely, upscale roman experience. We visited in February, and we thoroughly enjoyed our two-night visit. The personnel went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home. The musicians in the lobby sung special tunes. Something chimes? Bowls? Small drums? It was soothing and lovely!, bundling up in blankets on the exterior deck and heating mochi over a small brazier, taking a bath in the wooden bathtub or onsite onset, walking through the nearby nature preserve. The bed was also very comfy, and the Hoshizora area was highly valuable from the hotel. There are a few charming shops and restaurants there, including a bakery that opens at eight. We also had a delicious kiseki dinner at the hotel. The information booth at the train station has a schedule for hotel shuttle pickup times.

We are giving this hotel 4 stars because we did not ask for rooms near to this one and our children were assigned to rooms in another building despite our specific request to have adjacent rooms without telling us in advance. This arrangement was totally unsatisfactory even though the children are still young teens. We would have willingly spent more if it had been necessary for the family to be together if we had been informed beforehand. The initial stage that was accessible to the public was incredibly busy because of the hotel's reputation. This is a high-priced motel. Even though we had to line up and compete for space with nonresident guests who only had to pay an entrance fee of 1, 250 yen, which made the first visitor disorientating.

It was a great stay. But the room we got was not water view. We booked water view room but we got grass view with some water. Room 228. We downgraded and moved to 227. Very dissatisfied with the dishonest room type.
