We didnt stay here, but we visited the bar/restaurant three times because the sake tastings were exceptionally good and reasonably priced. Each time, the taste was unique and really good. They also serve some food that was very tasty. I will definitely come back here on my next trip to kyoto.

First off, the hostel boasts a fantastic location, right outside of the bustling gion station. However, its affordable, leaving limited facilities. The absence of privacy curtains and inadequate kitchen facilities adds to the overall impression. Additionally, there is hardly any social atmosphere in the common area. On fewer occasions, it was enjoyable to find the sake bar downstairs to be lively, occasionally drawing rioters.

I stayed here in the spring of 2023. It was a great place with clean dorm rooms and friendly staff. Close to the gion for some nice walks and close to public transport. The ground floor is s sake bar and the door next to it is the entrance to hostel. Would stay here again.

Aiko, michi, and the staff are highly knowledgeable about sake. Excellent for sake beginners and anyone looking to discover their new favorite bottle. There is a lovely rotating menu of delicious small snacks to accompany, so dont get hungry when you arrive, but even if you come after dinner nearby, have something tasty to bring out the depth of unami and its complex flavors. Dont know what to choose? Request osusume, h-sue-meh, or favorite flight!.

Early in the month of november, we spent four nights there. This is our second time staying here. It offers good value in close proximity to the center of Gion. The owner and staff were incredibly kind and accommodating.

It was a wonderful experience that i had when stayed there in 2012, when it had just opened. I heartily endorse it. It is essentially sytayed dorms with shared bedrooms, complete common areas, spotless toilets and showers, and air conditioning in the bedroom. If you stay there, take the time to chat with the charming owners and their patrons in our downstairs bar. This is an ideal opportunity to get to know the japanese people in fewer formal settings.
