The Peking Hotel is a piece of history, not very pretty. The building has seen better days but the room I had was comfortable and had everything I needed, the price was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful, the location is excellent right near the market, so exploring the food stalls was great. Due to the building's history, I walked in with goosebumps every time. definitely a budget and would stay again.4.6/524 Mar 2022

It may have overtaken it's prime but has a certain nostalgic charm for those who remember the ancient hotels that have long since closed in Chili and Bencoolen in Singapore. The receptionist is a really nice and accommodating woman who speaks excellent English. It is a shame that hotels like these are all but gone from Malaysia, they were full of character and charm, and it would be fantastic to see them renovated and a little more maintained. Clean but basic rooms are offered with nice air conditioning and wifi. We had a wonderful time here. Taiping is a fascinating place to spend a few days between opening and using your iPod.4.4/58 Nov 2023

It was built in 1929 and is situated in the heart of Taiping. The building is older and outdated, but clean and in good condition. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom is old but clean. There is no wifi and the floor was temporarily closed due to low occupancy. The price is worth the double room, which costs about rm 80 per night. Close to restaurants and stores. Free parking. Great service.4.4/511 Feb 2023

If youre seeking a piece of Malaysian taiping history, you can find it at this hotel. A portion of the taiping heritage trail. An old world colonial hotel used to serve as the headquarters for the Kempetai or Japanese security forces during the occupation. Wood floors and old ceiling fans are present. Some of the rooms have seen better days, but the hotel was being renovated when I visited. The personnel is friendly and helpful. It's close to the food market. A pharmacy is next door. If it's raining, walk to the lake gardens, as this is the wettest city in Malaysia. And it's a 15 to 20 minute walk from the train station, from which you can board the train to opening or el. Don't expect big city amenities, but appreciate the small town feel of the historic colonial hotel, which has seen many traders, combatants, and security personnel live as they did from a time when things moved slower. However, the wifi here was faster than my mobile data, so perhaps there are some minor changes. Other amenities are also offered. If required, they also sell water and some toiletries.4.2/518 Oct 2022

I highly recommend this place to any visitor who enjoys architecture and history. This hotel is not for the faint of heart. The staff is pleasant and chatty. Despite it's shadowy past, I enjoy it and will visit there again. I was given a room on the backside of the building for 40 euros each night. The following room had a lot of discussion. The air conditioning is excellent, and the bed is comfy. However, occasionally, the hot shower might not work. The former rubber dealers association built this hotel in 1929. It was the pre-regular headquarters of the kempeitai Japanese military police during the Japanese occupation.Popular Facilities
